Job Title: Maintenance Technician

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team. This role involves performing mechanical and electrical maintenance on machines responsible for packaging bottles of chemicals. The position requires both 1st and 2nd shift candidates, with training provided on the 1st shift for both. The role is predominantly mechanical, with some electrical maintenance duties.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical maintenance on palletizers, conveyors, droppers, and other packaging machines.

• Conduct electrical maintenance, including working with pneumatics, motors (up to 3-phase), and wiring up to 480v.

• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical systems, including conveyors, hydraulics, and air-driven pumps.

• Perform preventative maintenance on conveyor and pneumatic systems.

• Work alongside other technicians during shifts to ensure smooth production operations.

• Potentially perform welding tasks (MIG, TIG, and stick) and fabrication as needed.

Essential Skills

• At least 1 year of industrial plant mechanical maintenance experience.

• Ability to troubleshoot, repair, maintain, and perform preventative maintenance on conveyor systems and pneumatic systems.

• Strong mechanical skills, particularly with conveyors, hydraulics, and air-driven pumps.

• Basic electrical skills, including working with pneumatics, motors (up to 3-phase), and wiring up to 480v.

• Capability to work with hand tools and own a basic set of maintenance tools (wrenches, screwdrivers, hammers, channel locks, multimeters).

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in electrical maintenance on conveyors, hydraulics, and air-fueled pumps.

• Welding experience (MIG, TIG, stick) and fabrication skills.

• Experience in a packaging, chemical, or labeling environment.

• Facilities maintenance experience, including plumbing, HVAC, and light electrical work.

Work Environment

This role is based in a chemical manufacturing facility that processes and packages various chemicals, including windshield washer fluid and pool sanitizer. The facility is mostly automated and can get warmer in the summer and cooler in the winter. You will work alongside a small team, including other maintenance technicians, in a collaborative environment. The dress code includes jeans or work pants, a non-graphic shirt, and steel-toe boots. Candidates must be willing to work overtime and weekends as needed, typically ranging from 40-55 hours per week.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wayne, Michigan.
