THE TEAM

Diversified Production Services is the global leader in developing and executing world-class live entertainment, broadcast, special, and corporate events. We manage the development and execution of live events.

THE JOB

DPS produces over 40+ events a year and is the first point of contact for all performers and presenters. We coordinate all logistics & show elements, which include travel, schedules and backstage needs; production & performance requirements; on-site talent management including arrivals & check in, dressing room / back-of house management, show flow, etc.

This is a unique opportunity for a person looking to elevate themselves in the live event production world. The position will stimulate and encourage growth in responsibilities, both within the talent department and the company. They will have an active role in advancing performances, talent logistics, artist relations and backstage coordination as well as live event and show management.

WHAT THIS ROLE WILL DO

Essentials:

  • Detailed Project Management/Planning Experience: The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in meticulously planning and managing projects from conception to completion. This includes creating comprehensive project plans, timelines, and checklists to ensure all tasks are completed on time and within budget.

  • Exceptional Organizational and Administrative Skills: Strong organizational skills are essential for effectively managing multiple tasks and priorities. The ability to maintain meticulous records, track expenses, and coordinate logistics is crucial for success in this role.

  • Ability to Prioritize and Meet Deadlines: In a fast-paced environment, the Production Manager must be able to prioritize tasks effectively to meet tight deadlines and deliver high-quality results.

  • Procurement of Vendors and Management of Services and Staff: Experience in sourcing and managing vendors for staging, audio, lighting, video, and other event services is necessary. This includes negotiating contracts, overseeing vendor performance, and managing internal and external staff to ensure seamless execution.

  • Working Under Pressure/In a Pressurized Environment: Live events often come with tight deadlines and unexpected challenges. The ability to remain calm and composed under pressure is essential for successfully managing events and resolving issues as they arise.

  • Talent & Production Management Experience: Previous experience in talent management, particularly in live events such as concerts, galas, and broadcast events, is highly desirable. This includes coordinating local talent teams, managing rehearsals, and overseeing on-site operations.

  • AutoCAD/Vectorworks Knowledge and Ability to Use: Proficiency in AutoCAD or Vectorworks is advantageous, but not required, for creating event layouts, BOH maps, and technical drawings.

  • Experience Planning Large-Scale Events (2,000+ People): Experience in planning and executing large-scale events with significant attendance is preferred. This includes managing logistics, coordinating with multiple stakeholders, and ensuring a smooth attendee experience.

  • Planning and Adhering to a Budget: Experience in budget management, including budget creation, tracking expenses, and making cost-effective decisions, is desirable.

  • Negotiation and Liaison with Agencies: Strong negotiation skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with external agencies, vendors, and partners are beneficial for securing favourable contracts and agreements.

  • Event Management Training: Formal training or certification in event management is beneficial, but not mandatory for developing a deeper understanding of industry best practices and standards.

  • Confidence to Lead and Manage: The ability to lead and motivate teams, make informed decisions, and take charge in high-pressure situations is desirable for effectively managing talent relations.

  • Excellent Communication and Analytical Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential for effectively communicating with team members, clients, and stakeholders. Analytical skills are beneficial for evaluating event performance and identifying areas for improvement.

  • Exceptional Attention to Detail and Accuracy: A keen eye for detail and a commitment to accuracy are essential for ensuring that all aspects of event planning, talent logistics and execution meet high-quality standards.

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES

  • 4+ years in event management & planning, touring & artist management, artist relations and/or festival production.

  • Ability to travel for meetings and events, work long hours on-site including weekends and holidays pending the event calendar with and maintain office presence when not on-site.

  • High responsiveness via phone and email, as well as a flexible schedule are imperative.

  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Superior organizational skills and strict attention to detail.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Problem solving skills.

  • Open-minded and comfortable dealing with a variety of personality types.

  • Grace under fire, an outgoing personality, positive attitude, and an unlimited drive to succeed.

  • Proficient with Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat. CAD drawing experience is a plus.

  • Professionalism is imperative as direct contact with talent representatives and clients is required.

  • Union Experience (SAG-AFTRA): Demonstrated experience working with SAG-AFTRA, including an understanding of union agreements, guidelines, and best practices. Ability to navigate talent contracts, negotiate terms, and ensure compliance with SAG-AFTRA rules in the live entertainment space.
