Role Description The Advanced Product Development team is a multidisciplinary group, focused on delivering designs for the next generation of Form Energy's utility-scale multi-day energy storage system. The team does early-phase engineering to evaluate alternative concepts and choose the best design path to meet operational performance targets, at cost and with high reliability, from controlled processes on high-volume manufacturing lines.

We're seeking a Staff Mechanical Engineer to join our team and play a crucial role in designing components for our iron-air batteries! You'll bring components and assemblies from concept to into mass production, with a strong emphasis on design for manufacturing and assembly. As a problem solver, you'll creatively tackle mechanical design challenges and apply your knowledge of designing plastic and metal components for mass production. You'll work cross-functionally with teams on requirements definition, verification plans, and failure analysis to deliver a design that meets those requirements. Troubleshooting design problems as they arise and working to implement improvements will also be a part of your responsibilities. Create white-page designs that will be the foundation of Form Energy's Gen 2 product

Perform hands-on prototyping of designs and collaborate with broader teams to build integrated prototypes

Work with consulting companies, vendors, manufacturing engineers, and technical operations to transition designs from the prototype stage to high volume production
