SUMMARY:Supporting the Director of Research & Development, staff member is responsible for the design or redesign, initial production, and testing of our new and existing products and processes. Identify potential product or process risks, develop mitigation strategies, and proactively manage them including documentation and document retention. Engineer new and maintain existing documentation forms specific to Research and Development in the research, product development, and testing of existing products and new products and processes. Engineer production SOP documentation. Manage/conduct pre-production training that Production staff requires prior to the initial run of a new/modified product. Participate in and observe Pilot runs to trouble shoot and observe any unforeseen issues when producing a new product. Improve as needed until product meets standards.Responsible for the development /design/communication of New Product Pack Out for both domestically and internationally made products, while meeting customer requirements and specifications. QUALIFICATIONS:4-year college degree. Experience in manufacturing and product development will be considered with an Associate degree.-Experience with development and refinement of standard operational procedures to maintain consistent high levels of quality standards required-Project management experience desirable-Candle formulation experience a plusSkills & Abilities-Ability to work independently within rigid time constraints-Ability to accomplish tasks within a team environment, responding professionally to internal and external stakeholders-Excellent verbal communication and written documentation skills-Must be highly organized and self-motivated -Strong mathematical and computer skills-Computer knowledge/experience using Microsoft 365 products, Monday.com or other project management platforms desirableDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:-Manage the creation, design, and testing of new products-Oversee/make buyer samples as needed and communicate status to the team.-Evaluate and develop new and improve wax blends-Spec wicks for desired burn testing, product development and process improvements-Document processes used in the development and improvements of all wax related products and techniques.-Monitor, conduct, record and track all product burn testing -Lead external vendor relationsoCommunicate and negotiate with wax/wick/dye and additive vendors in conjunction with PurchasingoCreate the recipe or communicate with dye vendors the need for new colors based on PD or customer requirements. oDesign, develop, and communicate pack out requirements with vendors. Obtain and test samples.
