Job Description Summary

The Principal Engineer - Certification will report to a Systems Engineering Executive for Regional and Business Aviation in Cincinnati, OH. This person must consider both the business and the technical needs of customers to execute certification activities that require coordination with the ODA, Airworthiness & Certification team, FAA, EASA, and other Civil Aviation Authorities. They will apply regulatory knowledge and cross-discipline technical expertise towards airworthiness and certification outcomes. This is a senior position for experienced applicants.

In this role you will be responsible for major and complex assignments with long-term business implications, manage complex issues within functional area(s) of expertise, and contribute to the overall business strategy. This is a Controlled Title Holder position with expectation of enterprise contributions.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

As the Principal Engineer , you will:

  • Serve as a recognized technical expert in a Certification discipline, components or component systems, and provides consultation to management, all design organizations, and supplier organizations

  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to less experience engineers

  • Develop and implement training modules in certification as necessary.

  • Participate in cross-functional projects and present outcomes to business leaders around part certification.

  • Serve as a recognized leader in defining the state of the art in own technical specialty to anticipate, develop and apply technology to current and future business opportunities.

  • Participate, present and/or review in technical and program reviews from certification point of view.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in systems engineering

Desired Characteristics

  • Experience working with regulatory agencies

  • Experience in Part-33 certification content and deliverables

  • Technical expertise in jet engine and/or hardware design

  • Demonstrated Mechanical Systems expertise and skills with increased depth

  • Flexible and friendly approach to working in teams

  • Interest in being a self-starter with a focus on problem solving and driving solutions

  • Highly motivated, passionate and exceptional communication skills

  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to influence others and lead small teams

  • Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously

This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.
