Job Description:

The Columbia, SC office of Schnabel Engineering is seeking an Engineering Technician-Construction Materials Testing, to join our growing practice. We are looking for a motivated candidate with attention to detail, a passion to continue to develop as a professional, and a desire to be part of a strong team.

This role is eligible for a sign-on bonus of up to $1500!

Job Responsibilities:

  • Field observation and testing during placement of construction materials including soil, concrete, asphalt, masonry, reinforcing steel, and sprayed-on fireproofing

  • Preparation of reports documenting observations and test results

  • Communication with contractors and engineers to discuss observations and test results

Required Skills/Experience:

  • High School degree

  • Valid Driver’s License

  • Possess good oral, written, communication, and organizational skills

  • Able to perform rudimentary mathematic computations

  • Attentive to detail

  • Interest in working outdoors on construction sites

  • Candidates must be able to lift 50 - 75 pounds on an occasional basis and be physically able to negotiate construction sites, climb ladders and work outside

  • Prior experience on construction projects is preferred (2+ years)

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to pass a background check which may include criminal history, motor vehicle record and credit check

  • Ability to pass a pre-employment screening

The compensation range for an Engineering Technician is between $16/hr to $26.45/hr. Compensation for this position may vary based on geographic location and other factors. We remain committed to providing competitive and equitable compensation to all employees, regardless of their location
