Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the CSO by streamlining sustainability initiatives across the organization and ensuring that strategic objectives are met in a timely manner.

  • Drive operational changes through the organization that advance sustainability and promote efficiency and cost savings in key areas like energy and water consumption and waste management.

  • Lead the data collection process for the venues to establish a baseline of metrics through the data management platform, including:

  • Support the collection and review of data from the venues to ensure accuracy and completeness.

  • Manage the day-to-day questions regarding the systems from the venues.

  • Support the ongoing training to venue staff to maximize the utility of this system in tracking and enhancing sustainability performance.

  • Build out the sustainability educational modules in ASM Global Academy. These modules are design to enhance employee understanding and engagement in sustainability practices, and lead to an “certificate of sustainability” for employees that complete the course.

  • Lead employee engagement strategies including facilitating a peer to peer monthly sustainability meeting, monthly newsletter, and other initiatives as identified.

  • Support the marketing team in developing Venue Case Studies and other engagement opportunities to promote the efforts and initiatives at the individual venues.

  • Support in developing reports including environmental, social, and economic analysis, for key stakeholders

  • Research and implement leading sustainability strategies, issues, and trends.

  • Coordinate with the Commercial Partnership team on researching various opportunities and organizations to implement across the organization

  • Ensure compliance with government regulations or certification guidelines.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience

The requirements listed below are representative of those necessary to perform the job.

  • 3+ years relevant work experience with sport and/or venue operations and sustainability.

  • Knowledge and experience in team, venue, and event operations through the lens of sustainability, climate strategy, and ESG.

  • Exceptional cross-functional management skills, the ability to bring people together around a common goal and lead by example.

  • A proactive self-starter with proven experience to resolve issues through understanding conflicting inputs, achieving consensus, and proposing solutions.

  • Skilled in data analysis and building smart and efficient processes.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for high-visibility storytelling.

  • Passion for solving problems holistically through stakeholder engagement.

  • Experience managing material minimization and diversion programs, supply chain analyses, and sustainable material management planning.

  • Experience with implementing GHG emissions reduction initiatives and researching mitigation practices and technologies.

  • Accreditation or experience with LEED, WELL, FitWel, GRI, TRUE Zero Waste, ISO 20121, EIC sustainable event standards, or others.

  • High proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental studies, hospitality, sports management, marketing, or communications preferred or equivalent work experience.

  • Self-motivated, proactive, and directed with a keen sense of urgency to deliver results while working remotely or at a customer site.

  • Skilled at public speaking and presentations to groups.

  • Exceptional project management, organization, and collaborative skills.

  • Ability to work long days and over weekends when required by clients.

  • Adept at decision making.

  • Desire to grow with company and learn new skills.

  • Strong data management skills.
