Robert Half Sr. Accountant in West Des Moines, Iowa

Description We are in the process of recruiting a Sr. Accountant, situated in WEST DES MOINES, Iowa. The role entails managing the financial transactions and reporting of our company, operating within the industry's accepted accounting principles (GAAP). The successful candidate will be entrusted with the task of ensuring the accuracy of the general ledger, overseeing the reconciliation process, and supervising the accounts payable operations among other duties.

Responsibilities:

• Manage the recording, classifying, and summarizing of financial transactions in compliance with GAAP.

• Oversee the general ledger reconciliation process to ensure accuracy in financial reporting.

• Assist in the preparation of municipal and state tax reports on a regular basis.

• Supervise accounts payable operations and oversee the credit card program for a large number of cardholders.

• Prepare and organize supporting documentation for audit purposes, ensuring compliance with GAAP.

• Compile and analyze financial information for the preparation of daily, weekly, and monthly journal entries, and reports.

• Perform intercompany and bank account reconciliations.

• Assist with the compilation of month-end financial statement reporting.

• Assist with treasury management as required.

• Oversee a small team and maintain standard operating procedures. Requirements • Proficient in Account Reconciliation

• Skilled in Balance Sheet Reconciliation

• Experience in performing Bank Reconciliations

• Knowledge of General Ledger activities

• Able to make accurate Journal Entries

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel

• Experience in handling Month End Close tasks

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role

• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Attention to detail and high level of accuracy

• Knowledge of accounting principles and regulations

• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet strict deadlines

• Strong organizational and time management skills

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is preferred

• Experience with accounting software and databases.
