Job Title: Chemical Operator

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Chemical Operator to work from written procedures to process, purify, and chemically fabricate products and their compounds through a sequence of batch operations. You will operate various equipment, handle chemicals, and ensure accurate inventory and quality in manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

  • Work from written procedures to process, purify, and chemically fabricate products and their compounds through a sequence of batch operations.

  • Operate equipment, including reactors, tanks, pumps, mixers, pH meters, level meters, flow meters, valves, and hoses used in the manufacture of said products.

  • Handle liquid and solid chemicals using pumps, scales, and flow meters.

  • Weigh, measure, and check raw materials and finished products to ensure proper ingredients and quantities.

  • Perform product weighing, packaging, labeling, and boxing operations in accordance with SOPs.

  • Locate materials in the warehouse and transport to manufacturing areas using a forklift as needed.

  • Collect process samples and interface with laboratory personnel for analysis.

  • Maintain required log sheets, including batch tickets, packaging sheets, scrubber operation logs, pH meter calibration, and equipment inspections.

  • Attend required HSE training, including Hazardous Waste Management, emergency response, and Hazard Communication.

  • Package, mark, and label Hazardous Waste containers.

  • Operate equipment and follow procedures in accordance with ISO 9001 and ISO, OHSA standards.

  • Maintain housekeeping and 5S standards in the work area.

  • Communicate with the shift leader regarding safety, production, quality, or any other operational issues.

  • Actively participate in shift meetings to assist in work planning and continuous improvement.

  • Adhere to all corporate, plant, and safety policies/procedures.

  • Wear personal protective equipment as applicable.

  • Complete all assigned training, including corporate, HSE, and quality-specific training.

  • Train other chemical operators in operations, processes, and procedures as needed.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent with at least 2 years of applicable experience; chemical manufacturing is highly preferred.

  • Experience with sulfide or cyanide gold reaction processes or other precious metals products.

  • Experience working in a clean-room environment.

  • Forklift certification and Hazardous Waste Operations certification preferable.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in chemical manufacturing.

  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 and OHSA standards.

  • Ability to convey technical information effectively and concisely.

Work Environment

Work in a chemical manufacturing setting, operating various equipment and handling chemicals. Adhere to safety policies and wear personal protective equipment as required. Participate in continuous training and maintain high housekeeping and 5S standards. Shift work is required, and you will communicate regularly with team members to ensure smooth operations.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of West Haven, Connecticut.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00
