Job Description:

Aerojet Rocketdyne, an L3Harris Technologies Company , is seeking a Quality Manager to to lead the Nondestructive Test Inspection, Precision Measurement, and Calibration Teams in West Palm Beach, FL.

This position supervises day to day Calibration, NDT, CMM, and In-Process inspection activities at the Aerojet Rocketdyne West Palm Beach site in support of machining, chemical and heat processing operations as well as assembly operations. This is a hands on position that requires the incumbent to lead, educate and support teams to ensure perfectly executed work in all opportunities with a continual focus to ensure all employees focus on safety, environment and protection throughout all assigned areas.

Essential Functions:

Supervisory responsibility of site-wide calibration, precision dimensional inspection, manufacturing in-process inspection, and nondestructive testing. Including, but not limited to:

  • Direct daily work assignments to support manufacturing, assembly, and test schedules. Provide guidance and assistance to subordinates to ensure work quality and pace. Coordinate between shifts and work centers to ensure hardware velocity.

  • Maintain resource readiness and operational compliance (UAW overtime records, Delmia MES, calibrated equipment, inspection logs and systems, process daily checks & TPM)

  • Participate in establishing and modifying inspection methods and processes by recommending changes in materials, equipment and procedures.

  • Responsible for assigned department budgets and capital planning.

  • Accountable for personnel performance evaluations in accordance with company policies and procedures, to establish training plans and assure appropriate training is delivered as required.

  • Demonstrate critical manager and leadership competencies to achieve business objectives.

  • Make Decisions: Learn and adapt quickly when facing new and changing situations; follow through on commitments; identify problems and opportunities and determine whether action is needed, choosing effective option and commit to action; involve stakeholders in developing improvement recommendations and plans; provide implementation support and track and measure progress and impact

  • Build People: Set specific, measurable, realistic performance goals aligned to Key Results; track and evaluate performance and provide feedback; confront difficult problems early; follow through on commitments; review team results regularly and offer positive and developmental feedback; hold others accountable for operating procedures provide development opportunities and secure needed resources to support growth

  • Build Efficiency: Recognize need for additional information; ask questions to clarify the issue or opportunity and expectations; collaboratively develop an action plan and offer assistance to support success; steer commitment to action; remain aware of issues, follow up on action items, and track results

    Requirements:

    This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years prior related experience. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.

    Preferred Requirements:

  • Prior leadership/supervisory experience.

  • Experience with inspection equipment, CMM, and attribute gauging.

  • Inspections (in process, 1st article, receiving inspections).

  • Experience with calibrations for calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other inspection equipment to verify conformance to prints and familiarity with the requirements of ANSI Z540and/or IS0 17025 for precision calibration

  • Thorough knowledge of ISO-9001, AS-9100 standards and the ability to work within them.

  • Reading of blueprints, data, manuals, Quality Requirements Documents or other materials to determine specifications, procedures or instruments required for inspection.
