JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Pennsylvania State University (https://psu.edu) is seeking a candidate for an Extension Program Specialist to support Penn State Extension Nutrition Links nutrition education programs for low-income audiences through the supervision of paraprofessional staff delivering nutrition education funded by the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) and Pennsylvania Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Education (SNAP-Ed). The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Hire, train, and provide direct supervision to paraprofessional staff

  • Monitor paraprofessional activities, schedules, and conduct site visits

  • Motivate, counsel, and direct paraprofessional staff

  • Identify, develop, and deliver education and training to paraprofessional staff locally and statewide

  • Plan, coordinate, and support marketing for educational programs and services

  • Monitor budgets to ensure proper management of finances

  • Cultivate, develop, and maintain relationships with community organizations, government agencies, and businesses on the local and national level to develop initiatives

  • Analyze program outcomes and provide input based on such data as directed

  • Complete the required documentation necessary to report to funding sources

  • Attend local, unit, state, and national workgroups and meetings

  • Prepare and submit various reports

  • Ensure compliance with Penn State, EFNEP, SNAP-Ed, and Penn State Extension Nutrition Links policies and guidelines

  • Monitor, update, and disseminate program information

  • Maintain up-to-date records of all interactions and related documents in a database

  • May identify funding sources and assist in the application and administration of grants

This is a limited term position funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of refunding. This position offers a flexible work arrangement that combines remote and on-campus work. Questions related to flexible work should be directed to the hiring manager during the interview process.

Education and Experience:

This position will be filled at an Intermediate Professional, Advanced Professional or Senior Professional, depending on the final applicant's experience and education. Minimum requirements for the Intermediate Professional level include a bachelor's degree plus one (1) or more years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

The following background checks must be successfully completed for this position:

This position requires the following clearances: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to clearances.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$46,400.00 - $89,600.00
