Job Description

The position holder is responsible for the overall program leadership for the operations function for product

development and/or operations programs within the Single Use Endoscopes (SUE) segment of Olympus. Aligns

with cross functional partners to develop, execute, adapt, and deliver plans that enable product launches and/or

project outcomes to meet business, project, and operations needs with respect to operational deliverables and

KPIs. Partners with subfunctions within operations including manufacturing engineering, equipment engineering,

sourcing, supply chain, production, and others to deliver integrated solutions. Develops strategies using

considering financial, technical, organizational, and risk management inputs to determine the optimal course of

action. Delivers those strategies through tactical execution of for the project including schedules, budgets,

resource coordination, and agile adjustments and course correction when appropriate to deliver the program.

Job Duties

  • Align and direct resources from the operations functions to develop, execute, adapt, and deliver projects to completion.

  • Evaluate project opportunities to determine suitability for execution, considering financial, technical, organizational, and risk management elements.

  • Craft project strategies to optimize the risk/benefit profile of the project

  • Develop and manage project budgets and resource plans across the team, applying agile techniques to re-balance when necessary to meet the business objectives.

  • Thoughtfully balance resolution of issues with escalation – ensuring the right problems are solved at the right level of the organization.

  • Manage project budgets and timelines.

  • Incorporate new information and adapt as appropriate, being agile to course correct or maintain course as necessary. Establish plans and complete product and process development activities to meet project goals including specification development, design reviews, prototype development, pilot build and product release readiness

  • Ensure outstanding product and process development processes including FDA compliance and alignment to the phase gate product development process

  • Develop and deliver project status reports to multiple levels of the organization, proactively identifying, resolving, and presenting any issues that may impact the team’s ability to meet key goals regarding timeline, cost, and scope of the project, process, and product.

  • Resolve disputes amongst team members on projects in productive and effective ways.

  • Coordinate with cross functional colleagues to foresee/understand critical project activities and to enable them to manage team resources and tasks to avoid critical path slippage.

  • Responsible for the overall delivery of project results.

  • Prioritizes and manages execution of multiple departmental for the production phase products.

  • Works with other peers cross-functionally to standardize, leverage and implement program management tools and establish best-demonstrated practices

  • Directs and prioritizes operations resources in support all necessary projects and activities

  • Drive proactive behavior within the operations team

  • All Other Essential Duties as directed.

Job Qualifications

Required:

  • B.S. degree in Engineering or related field.

Preferred:

  • Minimum of 10 years of industry experience with a proven track record of successful product/process development or related large and complex programs within a regulated product development environment.

  • Experience leading a multidisciplinary team, preferably related to manufacturing and product development of developing, executing, and delivering large scale and complex project plans.

  • Well developed understand of operations finance and ability to perform and interpret quantitative financial analysis of project benefits and risks.

  • Expertise in developing and maintaining project and platform strategies, looking at multi year time horizons. Ability to understand the “Why” and not just the “what” and “how”

  • Expertise with the development of complex and precision mechanical or opto-mechanical devices, and electronic medical devices is preferred.

  • Experience partnering with external suppliers for the development of new processes and technologies is preferred

  • Good team leader and manager, with above average problem analysis skills

  • Able to think both logically and creatively and possess sound reporting abilities

  • Demonstrated project management techniques and approaches
