The Opportunity

The position Senior Quality Engineer is within our Infectious Disease business unit located at all sites within the Scarborough QMS. In this role you will be responsible for Providing Process/Quality Engineering support to manufacturing, helping to ensure delivery of highest quality product to the customer. Provide Process/Quality Engineering support to product development teams, helping to ensure development of highest quality new products at the Westbrook Site.

What You’ll Work On

  • Reduces and control s manufacturing process defects (scrap, nonconforming material, customer complaints) by leading efforts/teams focused on identifying the primary root causes and implementing corrective and preventative actions.

  • Product Stops and Release Criteria: May implement product stops and document release criteria as needed.

  • Quality Plans and Documentation: Develop and implement product quality plans, specifications, risk analyses, and FMEAs in collaboration with product development team members.

  • Process Monitoring Systems: Identify critical process steps that could lead to manufacturing defects and devise methods to reduce process variation and eliminate defects.

  • Data Collection and Analysis: Systematically gather and analyze quality metric data (e.g., scrap, nonconforming product, customer complaints) to support product/process improvement efforts and enhance product design and development.

  • Quality Tools and Training: Create quality tools and training materials, leveraging expertise to communicate effectively with teams.

  • Staff Development: Mentor less experienced staff by setting an example, providing guidance, work direction, and counsel. May lead project teams.

  • Project Goals and Objectives: Participate in setting goals and objectives for projects, influencing middle management on technical or business solutions.

  • Vendor Interaction: Interact with vendors as necessary.

  • Task Planning and Organization: Plan and organize non-routine tasks with approval, initiate or maintain work schedules, and establish priorities for work assignments.

  • Decision Making and Impact: Exercise judgment in selecting innovative, practical methods to resolve problems. Failure to achieve results or making erroneous decisions could result in significant program delays and resource expenditure.

Required Qualification

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.

  • Extensive application of technical principles, practices, and procedures. Strong understanding of business unit functions and cross-group dependencies/relationships.

  • Perform tasks within a quality system environment. Inadequate performance can result in noncompliance with governmental regulations.

  • Address problems of diverse scope, requiring analysis of identifiable factors.

  • Exercise judgment within generally defined practices and policies to select methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.

  • Possess a sound knowledge of various technical alternatives and their impacts.

Preferred

  • A Master’s Degree is preferred.

The base pay for this position is $72,700.00 – $145,300.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
