Position Summary: The Hands-On Controller will be responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of our manufacturing/distribution operations. This role requires a meticulous and proactive individual with an understanding of cost accounting, inventory management, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have experience in a manufacturing/distribution environment, with a keen eye for detail and a hands-on approach to problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting:

• Prepare and present accurate financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.

• Ensure compliance with GAAP and other relevant accounting standards.

Cost Accounting:

• Develop and maintain accurate cost accounting systems to track and analyze COGS.

• Conduct variance analysis and provide insights into production costs, labor costs, and overhead expenses.

• Implement cost control measures to improve profitability.

Inventory Valuation:

• Oversee inventory accounting and ensure accurate valuation of raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods.

• Conduct regular physical inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies.

• Implement and maintain effective inventory control procedures.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

• Lead the annual budgeting process and develop financial forecasts.

• Monitor actual performance against budget and provide variance analysis.

• Assist in strategic planning and financial decision-making.

Internal Controls:

• Establish and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets.

• Conduct audits and reviews to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.

Team Leadership:

• Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing guidance and support.

• Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.

Collaboration:

• Work closely with production, procurement, and sales teams to understand operational challenges and provide financial insights.

• Collaborate with external auditors and regulatory bodies as needed.

  Requirements

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA preferred.

• Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in a manufacturing or similar environment, with a strong focus on cost accounting and inventory management.

• In-depth knowledge of GAAP and other relevant accounting standards.

• Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems; experience with NetSuite is a plus.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
