This is a position with global grade 13 This position reports to Product Line Manager, HPR Your role and responsibilities Technically responsible for design and execution of assigned automation projects from kick-off through start up. The successful candidate will provide maintenance support to the existing high power rectifiers and SVC installations and lead the design and engineering project activities needed to develop an integrated process and electrical control solution to meet customer requirements. This includes interpretation of control lists, customer drawings and schematics, P&IDs, electrical one-lines, and other customer specifications; aid in development of a complete controls package submittal including electrical design and sequence of operations; programming controller and HMI applications using various ABB and 3rd party control/PLC systems, drawings, bill of material, and test procedures. Using IEC 61131 programming languages, configuring associated HMI terminals; designing field communications with a variety of industry standard bus protocols; applying an understanding of Ethernet networked devices to design control related networks. This is all hands-on work. Can work as part of a team or individually, will develop functional design specifications, support system test, installation, startup, and commissioning of the integrated systems. Travel: 50% to 75% is required. Qualifications for the role Bachelor's degree in chemical, process, electrical, or mechanical engineering required. Experience with high power converters controls and systems used in the metal and chemical industries, with developing industrial processes in the chemical, metal, rubber, glass, and material handling areas. Adaptable to working in new areas that could include, but not limited to, batteries, food/beverage, and metal plating. 4+ years of recent and direct experience required in: Controls and HMI hands on work. Configuring control Software and Hardware. Design experience in controls panels BoM and Submittal experience Control programming Experience in light and heavy industry control applications. Helpful experience (but not required): ABB 800xA, AC800M (Control Builder), AC800PEC, AC500 (Automation Builder) and/or SLC/PLC-5 (RSLogix 500), Control/CompactLogix (RSLogix 5000) programming. ABB Process Panel/CP600 and/or PanelView line HMI programming. E3 Zuken and /or Autocad experience is an asset. System integration, automation and/or electrical controls design and engineering. Integration of 460VAC and/or 575VAC VFDs and other drive systems into control solutions. Site start up and troubleshooting. Electrical design and/or power distribution experience a definite plus. High Power Rectifier and Power Quality converter knowledge an asset Proven technical experience. Project execution experience.
