State of Massachusetts Nursing Assistant I Full and Part Time (Benefited) Multiple Shifts - Continuous Posting in Westfield, Massachusetts

This is an open and continuous posting for full-time and part-time positions on multiple shifts. Western Massachusetts Hospital operated by the Department of Public Health (DPH) is seeking attentive and caring Nursing Assistants (NA) for full and part time positions who are passionate about building meaningful relationships and have the ability to provide outstanding care and service to our patient population. The ideal candidates will assist in the daily living routine of our residents, assess and communicate changes in condition and recommend solutions in care and service, under the direction of a professional nurse. Please Note: There are full time (40 hours per week) and part time (24 or 32 hours per week) positions available with rotating days off and every other weekend required. The shifts are: 1st Shift (7:00AM to 3:30PM), working every other weekend with days off as assigned. 2nd Shift (3:00PM to 11:30PM), working every other weekend with days off as assigned. 3rd Shift (11:15PM to 7:15AM), working every other weekend with days off as assigned. Employees in this position will be required to perform mandatory overtime /_Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive):_/ * Provide direct care to residents and assist with activities of daily living, including but not limited to bathing, grooming, mobility, incontinence care, dressing, feeding and other services of support. * Record resident vital signs, weights and measurements, intake and output, food consumption, and other information as assigned. * Accompany patients to appointments and recreational activities. * Assist nurses and physicians with exams or treatments, including turning and positioning of patients, draping, and use of safety measures as necessary. * Review resident chart and participate in collecting data needed for the accurate completion of the Nursing Care Plan; provide input to the assigned nurse for continued plan development. * Recognize urgent or emergency patient care situations; seek assistance of the nursing staff and/or physician on duty. * Establish supportive relationships with patients and their families to promote positive interactions; incorporate the mission and philosophy of the hospital. * Develop and promote a safe environment for quality client care through adherence of established policies, procedures, and standards. * Participate in in-services and daily/weekly staff meetings as required. /_Required Qualifications:_/ * Ability to follow written/oral instructions and gather information through observation and questioning individuals. * Talent for working in a team setting or group situation. * Skilled in interacting with people who are under physical and/or emotional stress. /_Preferred Qualifications_//:/ * Current, active certification as a Nurse Aide in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. * Ability to establish effective relationships with individuals, families, and team members. * Demonstrated attention to detail with readiness to respond appropriately when needed. * Capacity to maintain accurate records and exercise discretion in handling confidential information. * Skilled in the use of utilizing a computer for completion of work assignments. /_About Western Massachusetts Hospital:_/ The Western Massachusetts Hospital is the only public hospital operating in the western region of Massachusetts with a mission to serve as a medical safety net for many uninsured and under-insured citizens residing in the region.
