The Plant Manager will be responsible for strategic and tactical leadership of Operations for the Materion Precision Optics facilities in Westford & Tyngsboro, including Manufacturing, Process Engineering, Scheduling, Planning, Security, EH&S, Maintenance, Quality, and Supply Chain. As Plant Manager, you provide overall direction and guidance to the plant teams with the objective of maximizing growth and profitability. The incumbent is responsible for the effective management of all activities associated with the two facilities.

YOU WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO:

  • Provide overall direction and guidance to the operation with the objective of maximizing growth and profitability. Ensure KPI’s for on-time delivery, productivity, and cost targets are met, while meeting or exceeding customer requirements for quality, delivery, and responsiveness.

  • Oversee the development of systems, and production plans that are supportive of corporate vision, mission and values and procedures to control inventories, reduce lead times and improve delivery performance.

  • Develop operating budgets and product costs. Ensures DVC & MOH costs are managed to established forecast budgets.

  • Oversee compliance with EHS initiatives to ensure safe operation of machinery and processes throughout the plant. Maintain a safe, clean working facility compliant with federal, state, local and corporate safety, environmental and human resource policies and regulations.

  • Lead Continuous Improvement activities for site. Ensure Gross Margin and Cost Savings targets are met on an annual basis.

  • Be responsible for leading Facilities, Equipment Maintenance, and Site Security.

    REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, with Bachelor's Degree in engineering and Master’s Degree preferred

  • A minimum of 10 years of operations management experience in multi-shift manufacturing organizations

  • Experience in a low volume / high mix environment is an asset

  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in leadership

  • A minimum 3 years of experience with P&L responsibilities with a track record of managing capital and operational budgets within targets

  • Knowledge of business and management principles (budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation, and human resources)

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, Green Belt or equivalent knowledge of formal quality and productivity improvement processes

  • Track record of successful project management experience, leading multiple projects simultaneously

  • Strong team building, decision-making and people management skills, along with an ability to create accountability and to lead by example

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills; focus on driving disciplined, fact-based decisions and executing with discipline and urgency

  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations, environmental regulations, and labor law

  • Understanding of optics and experience in a globally matrixed environment

    This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance. Non-US citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance. The selection of the person to be hired for this position is contingent on the candidate having export compliance eligibility for access to U.S. controlled technology which comes under the licensing jurisdiction of the U.S. Department of State, International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the U.S. Department of Commerce, Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
