We are currently bidding on a contract providing support to the Picatinny NEC in improving the functionality of the overall delivery of Information Technology Services (ITS) and Administrative Telephone Services (ATS) on Picatinny Arsenal.

This opportunity is contingent upon a successful contract award to Oneida Technical Solutions.

Job Title: Journeyman Database Administrator

Location: Picatinny Arsenal

Clearance Required: Secret Clearance

Job Summary:

As a Journeyman Database Administrator, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining databases to ensure their availability, performance, and security in line with organizational and governmental standards. You will be expected to leverage your expertise in both data administration and data analysis to optimize database systems, ensure the integrity of data, and support business operations. This role combines the key functions of Database Administration (DCWF421) and Data Administration (DCWF422) and requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful implementation and maintenance of database systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Database Administration (DCWF421):

  • Install, configure, and maintain database management systems (DBMS) software.

  • Monitor database performance, implement performance tuning, and ensure databases meet organizational requirements for data storage, retrieval, and security.

  • Perform database backups, restores, and recovery operations.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain database security policies and procedures in line with industry best practices and government regulations.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve database issues, including performance bottlenecks, data integrity problems, and application errors.

  • Data Administration (DCWF422):

  • Design, implement, and maintain database schemas, data models, and data dictionaries.

  • Manage and oversee data entry, data integrity, and data quality across all systems.

  • Develop and enforce data standards, policies, and procedures to ensure data accuracy and consistency.

  • Collaborate with application developers and system administrators to design and implement efficient database solutions.

  • Analyze and report on data trends, patterns, and anomalies to support business decision-making.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

  • Experience:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in database administration and data management.

  • Experience with DBMS such as Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL.

  • Strong knowledge of database security, backup/recovery, and performance tuning.

  • Proficiency in SQL and scripting languages.

  • Experience with data modeling, schema design, and data integrity management.

    • Security Clearance: Active Secret Clearance is required.
    • Certifications: Relevant certifications such as Oracle DBA, Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, or equivalent are preferred.
  • Must be DOD-8140 compliant

  • Familiarity with cloud-based database solutions and big data technologies is a plus.

  • Experience working in government or defense environments is preferred.
