Job description

Electro-Mechanic SUMMARY:

Installs and maintains electrical systems, apparatus, electrical and electronic components of industrial machinery and equipment by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Includes the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Works at following and promoting company safety rules and policies and following accepted safe work practices.
  • Safely operate forklifts to move equipment and materials to and from the production areas, scales, warehouse, etc.
  • Performs all duties safely and within the training and company specs
  • Works under the close direction of the supervisor.
  • Knowledge of repair and/or replace AC/DC motors and drives
  • Knowledge of repair and/or replace motor starters, contactors, and overloads.
  • Ability to change motors without assistance.
  • Knowledge of repair and/or replace 480v, 240v, and 120v control equipment.
  • Knowledge of repair and/or replace both 24vdc and 120v sensors, limit switches, proximity sensors, laser sensors, and various auxiliaries.
  • Knowledge of repair and/or replace PLC hardware, communications cards, cables, and connectors. Soldering knowledge is a plus.
  • Pushes buttons and presses keys on programmable controllers to program automated machinery to operate properly, and to test for malfunctions and to verify repairs.
  • Installs and/or maintains power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment such as extruders and control cabinets, electrical motors and programmable controllers.
  • Ability to identify and order spare parts.
  • Know the proper use of voltage testing equipment.
  • Set up and operate drill press, hydraulic press and cut off saw. Use various other hand and shop tools to make and repair parts and equipment.
  • Possess essential mechanical skills to be able to trouble shoot equipment malfunctions and to be able to make proper repairs or request help
