Summary About the Position: This Health Specialist is located at White Sands Test Center WSTC Commander Safety Office with duty location of White Sands Missile Range, Dona Ana New Mexico. (merit) Responsibilities Administer the radiation protection program for United States Army Test and Evaluation Command, White Sands Test Center in areas such as ionizing and non-ionizing radiation. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in natural science or engineering that included at least 30 semester hours in health physics, engineering, radiological science, chemistry, physics, biology, mathematics, and/or calculus. OR B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or other education. OR C. Certification: Certification as a health physicist by the American Board of Health Physics, plus appropriate experience and other education that provided an understanding of sciences applicable to health physics comparable to that described in paragraph A. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Develop procedures for the handling of radioactive materials; AND 2) Conduct on-site inspections of operations to ensure compliance with established standards of radioactive materials. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11/NH-02).
