JOB REQUIREMENTS: JOB ID: 20970 ATTENTION: The College of Letters and Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater seeks an Academic Advisor (AE002). JOB DETAILS: This is a twelve-month position that reports to the Associate Dean in the College of Letters and Sciences (CoLS). This position provides direct advising to students and strategically supports faculty advisors in STEM majors, in particular Computer Science and Cybersecurity majors, as well as other high-demand or high-need areas. This position will assist with recruitment and orientation events as well as retention and student success initiatives across the College. RESPONSIBILITIES: Academic Advising and Student Success: -Provide advising support to students across CoLS with a focus on students in STEM majors, particularly Computer Science and Cybersecurity -Collaborate with faculty advisors across the college to provide advising to students with CoLS majors -Communicate with prospective students to offer advice and information on requirements and opportunities at UW-Whitewater -Support students in the process of preparing for and applying to professional schools and provide guidance as they face the realities of competitive professional program admission processes -Utilize Navigate and other campus technologies to maintain records and collaborate with other campus units to support student success -Advise new students at Student Orientation, Advising, and Registration (SOAR) events -Collaborate with campus partners to ensure holistic student advising and support -Assist in supporting at-risk students -Assist in supporting transfer students Administrative Duties: -Participate in Preview Days, Admitted Student Days, and other recruitment events -Co-facilitate CoLS advising and student success programming -Assist in maintaining and updating four-year plans, CoLS advising website, program lists, and CoLS Advising Office publications in collaboration with others in the CoLS Advising Office -Support outreach efforts to assist in recruiting new students -Other duties as assigned TO ENSURE CONSIDERATION: Applications received by July 7th, 2024 are ensured full consideration.
