Support the Interment Service Department Management in an administrative capacity, assuring a high level of quality, accuracy, and productivity in accordance with Company policy and state and federal regulations. At times perform the same work and regularly provide feedback to associates and management for improved operations and positive recognition.

Essential Job Functions & Expectations: Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.

  • Responds to customer service interment or grave maintenance issues, researches issues, resolves routine issues, reviews non-routine issues with management, initiates resolution, and statuses customer family member of resolution and timing. Verifies resolution was implemented prior to deadline. Tracks issues, resolutions, and turn-a-round time; records scorecard type metrics; may make process improvement recommendations to management, updates management on trends; alerts management to high risk issues.

  • Assist Cemetery Management team to address visitor concerns regarding grave repair and inquiries through verbal and written communication. Initiates resolution with on the spot repairs or coordinate urgent completion with the assigned Cemetery Repair Team. Log repair in Grave Repair System and follow up as needed. Verifies resolution was implemented prior to deadline.

  • Communicate with families upon the completion of grave repairs and marker settings. Upload, QC and compose email correspondence to Requestor or contract holder. Follow up as needed or requested. Ability to compose correspondence unique to the request while demonstrating ample knowledge of the Cemetery Rules and Regulations.

  • Pro-actively review interment permit statuses, verify restrictions are cleared prior to interment, and update HMIS.

  • Pro-actively contact Marker Vendor to confirm delivery date, receive and validate Marker delivery and verify accuracy, schedule installation, and continually update HMIS.

  • Via two-way radio, quickly acknowledge ad-hoc cemetery service requests, request resource availability, dispatch resources, and relay request and response. Additional responsibilities as assigned or requested.

  • Self manages workload to deliver quality work on time. Consistently applies procedures, regulations, and policies producing compliant and efficient results. Works independently; as needed requests work be peer reviewed for accuracy and improvement. Completes non-routine work applying experience and knowledge of procedures, regulations, and policies; escalates complex and unique issues for guidance. Exhibits accountability for work and behaviors.

  • Takes the initiative to discuss assignments, expectations, priorities and deadlines as well as seek guidance and coaching from manager. Notifies manager when workload is light and volunteers for additional work. Adjusts effectively to work within new work structures, processes, requirements, or cultures. Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

  • Maintains department’s standard operating procedures (SOP) and job aids. Requests SOP & job aids peer review. Learns how to document SOPs, appropriate level of detail, and written communication

  • Assign the daily duties of the Interment Department staff based on assignment and competency

  • Additional cemetery administrative support responsibilities as requested.

Experience and Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving record

  • At least five (5) years’ cemetery experience with a strong knowledge of interment operations, terminology, and procedures including backhoe operation and use of cemetery tools.

  • Demonstrate correct reading of cemetery maps, comprehension, and application

  • Demonstrate knowledge and application of cemetery regulations

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Cognitive ability including reasoning, identify root cause, comprehend ideas, learn quickly, learn from experience, and appropriately apply learning to new situations.

  • Process and results oriented, motivated to keep projects moving ahead by identifying obstacles and exploring alternatives

  • Knowledgeable in cemetery acumen

  • Must have a positive attitude, a drive to continually advance your understanding of the industry and business, and is highly self-motivated

  • Ability to build professional and trusting business relations within the team

  • Professional written and verbal communication skills

  • Proficient MS Office Suite skills, with advanced application of Word and Outlook skills including template building, follow up flags and calendar delegation and reminders.

  • Accurate mathematical skills

  • Appropriate business attire to be worn when having contact with families or guests

  • Ability to work overtime

  • Ability to comply with company policies including but not limited to punctuality/attendance, workplace safety, and project a favorable image of the company

Compensation:

Salary: $22.00/hr - $28.00/hr

Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
