SUMMARY
The Buyer plays a key role in ensuring the timely delivery of materials while optimizing costs and supporting the company\'s production and operational goals. The Buyer is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing materials, components, and services necessary for production. This role involves developing and maintaining relationships with suppliers, managing inventory levels, and ensuring that all procurement activities comply with industry standards, such as AS9100, as well as company policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Supplier Management: Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on price, quality, reliability, and delivery capabilities. Establish and maintain strong relationships with both existing and new suppliers.
- Negotiation: Negotiate contracts, pricing agreements, lead times, and delivery terms with suppliers to obtain the best possible conditions for the company.
- Inventory Management: Monitor and manage inventory levels, ensuring that necessary materials and components are available when required while minimizing excess stock.
- Cost Management: Identify cost-saving opportunities. Ensure that all purchases are made at the best possible price without compromising quality or delivery timelines.
- Compliance and Documentation: Ensure that all procurement activities are compliant with aerospace industry standards, regulations (e.g., FAA), and quality management systems such as AS9100. Maintain accurate records of purchases, contracts, and supplier performance.
- Teamwork and Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, production, quality control, and logistics teams to understand material requirements, resolve supply chain issues, and support project timelines.
- Supplier Audits and Evaluations: Conduct regular supplier evaluations and audits to ensure they meet company quality standards, delivery requirements, and regulatory compliance.
- Risk Mitigation: Identify potential supply chain risks and implement strategies to mitigate disruptions to production schedules, such as developing alternative suppliers or maintaining safety stock.
