Occupational Summary:

Perform general custodial duties routinely as assigned by supervisor to maintain cleanliness of university buildings. This part-time position is a ten-hour shift between 2:00 pm and 1:00 am, Saturday and Sunday. Occasionally the position may require working hours more than the normal ten-hour shift. Performing the functions with the physical requirements described below requires continually standing and/or walking.*Starting pay is \$14.00 per hour.*

Responsibilities:

  1. Empty trash from offices, classrooms, labs, bathrooms, break rooms, laundry rooms, lobby areas daily. Clean trash receptacles as needed.
  2. Maintain and stock designated housekeeping cart, housekeeping closet, and equipment for daily use.
  3. Clean all surfaces as needed - tables, desks, chairs, blackboards, countertops, windows, mirrors, ledges, blinds, picture frames, show cases, display cases, light fixtures etc.

  5. Stock paper products, soap dispensers, air fresheners, etc. in all restrooms daily.
  6. Sweep, mop and/or vacuum floors in all entrances, hallways, offices, classrooms, stairways, etc. daily.
  7. Vacuum all entrance floor mats daily.
  8. Clean all entrance windows and doors daily.
  9. Clean stairwells once a week- Dust banisters and ledges, mop stairs, wipe baseboards etc.
  10. Buff (using conventional buffer) common use areas, hallways, offices, classrooms to maintain shine on solid surface floors one time a week.
  11. Spot clean carpet and upholstery as needed.
  12. Annually (or as needed) wax or strip wax solid surface floors in entrances, hallways, offices, classrooms, stairways, etc.
  13. Annually (or as needed) shampoo all carpeted areas: entrances, hallways, offices, classrooms, stairways, etc.
  14. Assist with moving tables, chairs, and other furnishings as needed during dedicated events, or occasions.
  15. Follow all safety policies and procedures and comply with all OSHA programs.
  16. Complete University-required training, including FERPA and Title IX.
  17. Contribute to the overall success of the facilities department by performing all other duties as assigned.

  2. Project a proper workplace attitude, showing respect and courtesy toward staff, faculty, students, and visitors.
  3. Be punctual, dependable, flexible, and cooperative.
  4. Have reliable transportation to get to and from work on time.
  5. Establish and maintain working relations with supervisors, coworkers, students and the rest of the University faculty and staff.
  6. Accept instructions and feedback from supervisors.
  7. Able to perform the functions and responsibilities of the job without direct supervision.

Requirements:

  1. High School Diploma.
  2. Basic knowledge in the proper and safe use of floor cleaning equipment (floor scrubber, floor buffer, carpet shampooer, carpet extractors, vacuum cleaners).
  3. Basic knowledge inproper and safe handling of cleaning chemicals.
  4. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Physical Requirements during Work Shift:

  1. Be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and push or pull up to 100 lbs.
  2. Be able to lift and carry 10-20 lbs. frequently.
  3. Be able to walk and climb stairs frequently.
  4. Be able to carry supplies and equipment up and down stairs daily.
  5. Be able to bend, stoop or kneel repeatedly.
  6. Be able to reach overhead and maintain their balance daily.
