SUMMARY
The Experimental Assembly Mechanic is responsible for assisting in testing, modifying, building, installing, and inspecting of mechanical and structural aircraft assemblies, sub-assemblies per engineering specifications. This role involves working closely with engineers and designers to assemble parts according to precise specifications, troubleshoot issues, and ensure that prototype assemblies meet rigorous quality and safety standards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Responsible for the assembly of complete prototype and production aircrafts, and test articles by installing a variety of sheet metal, composite and/or machined assemblies for new or modified articles according to engineering instructions with little to no leadership guidance.
- Responsible for assisting junior team members with the proper assembly and installation of major aircraft components, ensuring alignment with engineering standards and schedule goals.
- Coordinates experimental activities closely with the Engineering Department to analyze and interpret incomplete and preliminary engineering data and specifications.
- Perform functional tests and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems to ensure proper operation of experimental assemblies.
- Inspect parts and completed assemblies for accuracy, precision, and adherence to engineering standards and safety requirements.
- Keeps experimental aircraft properly licensed and maintained. Accounts for records on all components, test articles and consigned equipment.
- Responsible for project(s) success/failure for the portion they are performing.
- Familiar with the proper use of assembly tooling and fixtures, as well as various precision measuring instruments such as micrometers,Vernier calipers, and all types of gages and indicators.
- May build shop-aids, jigs, and fixtures for Experimental projects.
- Follow all safety protocols, regulations, and best practices to ensure a safe working environment during assembly, installation, and testing processes.
- Performs other related duties as required.
