Geisinger Program Manager Elder Life in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania

Job Summary

Serves in an expanded volunteer program management role to develop, coordinate, and provide oversight for the Hospital Elder Life Program (HELP) Program. Collaborates with HELP leadership team to implement HELP volunteer orientation, supervision, and ongoing volunteer service, development, and training. Applies program protocols and process improvements to promote high-quality training and volunteer service to HELP patients. Works with HELP leadership team to maintain documentation tools to ensure high-quality and efficient processes.

Job Duties

  • Provide oversight to new HELP volunteers, assisting with:

  • Scheduling Orientation

  • Scheduling clinical training hours

  • Scheduling service hours

  • Facilitating volunteer integration and communication on unit

  • Managing volunteer shift report process

  • Mentor HELP volunteers in the implementation of program protocols and patient outcomes.

  • Implement training, supervision, and support for key HELP Program initiatives:

  • Daily Visitor Program

  • Therapeutic Activities Program

  • Early Mobilization Program

  • Feeding Assistance Program

  • Implement and evaluate HELP volunteer education opportunities that enhance the patient experience, minimize patient delirium, reduce readmission rates, and drive quality outcomes.

  • Create materials and training opportunities for ongoing HELP volunteer development.

  • Manage quality assurance measures and adherence issues.

  • Leverage technology to support data collection and reporting of HELP program metrics.

  • Utilize documentation tools to promote reliable and accurate data collection and reporting of key performance indicators i.e. patient satisfaction scores, fall rates, etc. assuring delivery of sound data elements.

  • Evaluate and identify opportunities and propose process improvement strategies to enhance program efficiency and effectiveness that drive quality outcomes and quality assurance.

  • Propose and develop plans to address gaps in program operations and improve efficiency.

  • Manage equipment, supply needs, and give input on the budget of the HELP program at all locations,

  • Facilitate individual HELP volunteer opportunities for development, mentoring, coaching, and education; utilize Geisinger practitioners and clinical experts when possible.

  • Facilitate written referrals and references for HELP volunteers who complete service requirements.

Position Details

Certification in Elder Care preferred.

Education

High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)- (Required)

Experience

Minimum of 3 years-Related work experience (Required), Minimum of 2 years-Clinical (Required)
