Stellant Systems, in Williamsport, PA, is a manufacturer of Vacuum Electron Devices (VED). The candidate will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing engineering resources in support of VED production and research & development. The candidate will facilitate actions to:

  1. Drive for timely resolution of technical issues impacting Production

  2. Propose, plan and realize new products and product enhancements

  3. Propose, plan and realize improvements to production processes.

Responsibilities

  • Develops the initial concept of a project and participates in the overall detailed product or process design.

  • Creates comprehensive program plans and schedules for meeting project objectives.

  • Leads problem solving efforts by taking individual corrective action or organizing efforts among other engineers, staff members and support departments.

  • Develops and implements training programs.

  • Creates original hardware, drawings, models, prototypes, software and processes to test the feasibility of the design or process being investigated.

  • Specifies and evaluates environmental test conditions such as shock, vibration, temperature, etc.; analyzes equipment to establish test and operating conditions for conducting experimental tests.

  • Conceives ideas and prepares proposals in support of projects to develop new products and processes.

  • Develops cost estimates, resources plans, risk assessments and business justification for engineering projects.

  • Leverages all available resources within the facility to carry out engineering responsibilities.

  • Directs engineers and technical support personnel. Acts as mentor and ensures that engineers are properly trained to perform at a high level.

  • Conducts performance appraisals for group members and makes salary recommendations.

  • Assumes responsibility for routine administrative functions within the group such as vacation and time-off requests.

  • Maintains a high level of technical competence and state-of-the-art awareness through investigations in trade journals, membership in technical societies, and forming liaisons with other key engineers and officials outside of the organization.

  • Establishes technical dialogue with customers under the direction of Sales & Marketing to ensure that the customer’s design specifications are met and that his requirements will be satisfied.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Physics or other related technical disciplines plus ten (10) years of experience, or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience.

  • Must demonstrate the ability to manage large projects and direct other engineers and technicians.
