Step Inc. Trails and Recreation Coordinator in Williamsport, Pennsylvania

STEP Americorps in partnership with the Susquehanna Greenway Partnership has an exciting opportunity as a Trails and Recreation Coordinator

STEP AmeriCorps is a great opportunity for anyone who is a student or paying off student loans! Whether you are a recent graduate taking a gap year, someone re-entering the workforce, or a retiree who wants to give back to the community, we have service opportunities for you.

Where: Williamsport, PA

Who you are: STEP AmeriCorps is looking for individuals who are interested in serving the community while earning a living stipend and money toward their education or student loans. Individuals must commit to serving 1700 hours in total between August 20th, 2024-July 25th, 2025.

*About the role: *This is not a permanent full- time job opportunity. This is a service opportunity with STEP AmeriCorps. Reporting to the Assistant Director, this AmeriCorps member will have a unique chance to create the organizational systems and processes necessary for expanding the Susquehanna Greenway, increasing volunteer stewardship, and improving the user experience on the Susquehanna Greenway. The member will be serving within both the land and River Trails component of the program. This is a great opportunity to support the inner workings of a dynamic nonprofit and expand multiple professional competencies while under the support and guidance of the STEP AmeriCorps program.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in conservation, land and water management, recreation management, outdoor education, environmental education, or related major; or 1-2 years' related work experience or equivalent combination preferred;
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal communications) are required;
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, take initiative, deliver high quality work, and work independently;
  • Superlative interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to work well with people;
  • At least 18 years of age, be a citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident alien of the United States;
  • Experience within outdoor pursuits a plus;
  • Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation; and,
  • A level of volunteer management experience preferred.

Additionally, all STEP AmeriCorps members are required to perform the following list of AmeriCorps related duties and events:

  • Attend mandatory team meetings;
  • Complete mandatory AmeriCorps monthly service and outcome reports;
  • Complete mandatory weekly time logs in a timely fashion;
  • Complete mandatory journals;
  • Develop, plan and participate in various mandatory AmeriCorps events such as Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service, AmeriCorps Week activities and other service projects; and,
  • Participate in host site and AmeriCorps trainings as scheduled.
