       POSITION DESCRIPTIONSupport and develop behavioral strategies for students; assist security personnel in classroom and hallway monitoring and participate in student interviews and conflict resolution.RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist students’ educational needs both individually and in small groups

  • Collaborate with classroom teachers regarding students’ needs and requirements including IEP goals

  • Assess the students using district assessments

  • Maintain accurate, complete and correct records as required

  • Monitor students’ progress using district assessments

  • Utilize computer to establish and maintain student data

  • Facilitate small group math and/or reading instruction determined by the Principal and/or teacher in both pull-out and push-in models

  • Communicate in a positive manner with parents on the progress of students

  • Collaborate with colleagues, students and parents

  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with parents through effective use of progress reports, notes and/or conferences

  • Tutor students in the locations and at the times designated

  • Compile and maintain learning portfolios and reports of students

  • Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required

  • Demonstrate knowledge of subject matter and present clear, complete, and accurate explanations utilizing a variety of instructional techniques and media suitable to the level of learners

  • Teach new concepts and facilitate different activities enabling students to learn in different ways

  • Attend meetings and in-services per negotiated agreement

    OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES

  • Makes contact with the public with tact and diplomacy

  • Maintain respect at all times for confidential information, e.g., home and discipline situations, medical background and family history

  • Interact in a positive manner with staff, students and parents

  • Promote good public relations by personal appearance, attitude and conversation

    KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS

  • Experience working with young children

  • Knowledge of academic area

  • Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing

  • Effective, active listening skills

  • Ability to work effectively with others

  • Organizational and problem solving skills

  • Basic knowledge of all other subject matter

  • Ability to work effectively with others

  • Basic computer skills

  • Excellent reading comprehension

  • Excellent math comprehension

  • Small group instruction

    QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred

  • Advanced Degree in Special education, Psychology or related field preferred

  • Experience working in schools supporting behavioral needs and/or learning difficulties, preferred

  • 2 or more years working as an Interventionist, Teacher or Tutor with children

  • Bilingual in Spanish, preferred

    Days: Monday – Friday (35 hours weekly/schedule determined by Principal)Salary: Based on experience in accordance with WFEP negotiated agreementBargaining Unit: WFEPWork year: August - June (10 Months/40 weeks)Benefits: Per negotiated agreement
