Please note: This vacancy is being announced at two different classification levels (Engineering Specialist Senior and Engineering Specialist). Only one (1) vacancy will be filled.

This position exists to: Manage and Coordinate the District’s Consultant Program to ensure compliance with department guideline and state law. This position also Manages and Coordinates the Districts cost estimating program to ensure projects are appropriately estimated in the highway construction program and updated to reflect changing conditions.

This position will have the option to telework part-time . The employee will be required to complete a telework agreement.

Minimum Qualifications

To qualify for Engineering Specialist Senior , applicants must meet all the following:

Three (3) years of para-engineering experience (Engineering Specialist or equivalent) which demonstrates the following:

  • Knowledge of highway and bridge construction, cost estimating techniques and estimated bid quantity techniques to estimate project costs.

  • Advanced knowledge of policies, practices, and protocols sufficient to develop, train, and lead others in project development consultant contracting processes.

  • Technical writing skills sufficient to prepare and edit highway and bridge consulting contracts.

  • Experience in Program Delivery sufficient to understand the highway Development process.

To qualify for Engineering Specialist, applicants must meet all the following:

Three years para-engineering experience (Transportation Specialist or equivalent) which demonstrates:

  • Knowledge of highway and bridge construction, cost estimating techniques and estimated bid quantity techniques to estimate project costs.

  • Knowledge of policies, practices, and protocols sufficient to administer consultant contracts.

  • Technical writing skills sufficient to prepare and edit highway and bridge consulting contracts.

  • Knowledge in Program Delivery sufficient to understand the highway Development process.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing or leading consultant contracts

  • Experience managing or leading cost estimates for a fiscally constraint program, i.e. CHIP, STIP, etc.
