MSW or LCSW with the district preferring LCSWs. Will not accept BSWs. Hugh bonus if candidates have their drug/alch certification but not required.

Position is for duration of 24-25 SY.

Schedule: 35 hours a week - Mon- Fri.

Job Description:

Provide supports to students, staff and families in a public school setting. Support the students’ social emotional development and academic progress. Possess knowledge of research based practices to assist students at the elementary or secondary school level with mental health concerns, behavioral concerns, positive behavioral supports and classroom supports. Provide individual and group counseling/therapy to students. Provide coaching and modeling to facilitate the active involvement of students in their educational setting. Support the student and families with referrals to appropriate community resources and crisis interventions as needed. Provide check-in opportunities to students, staff, and families while communicating a “care team” approach to support the social emotional well-being of all. Ability to collaborate with staff, administrators, service providers and families in the development and implementation of appropriate change strategies and interventions. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to identify community resources for students and families and coordinate needed services.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop positive and collaborative relationships with students, parents and family members, and mental health providers.

  • Assist families in obtaining resources in the community and school.

  • Partner with the District Homeless Education Liaison to assist and support students and families entitled to or receiving McKinney-Vento services

  • Develop positive and collaborative relationships with classroom staff, school mental health and behavioral support staff who provide academic and behavioral instruction and intervention.

  • Provide daily or weekly check-in opportunities for students, families and staff for social, emotional well-being

  • Provide direct modeling or consultative support to classroom staff, and 504 and IEP Teams to help ensure consistent implementation of behavioral interventions.

  • Provide direct or indirect supports to assist with accurate data collection of target behaviors and positive/alternative skills.

  • Facilitate individual, group, and family counseling sessions.

  • Provide direct and indirect crisis intervention, as well assist with staff efforts to teach and shape coping skills, emotional regulation and conflict resolution.

  • Manage student referrals, reporting, court and family involvement and follow-up, as related to problems with student attendance and truancy.

  • Assist with the coordination of services for students and families, as related to attendance issues and truancy.

  • Monitor students with attendance issues and facilitate actions as related to truancy laws.

  • Collaborate with school principals and appropriate staff relative to student referrals for attendance problems, including periodic status reports and follow-up.

  • Collect and analyze appropriate data and prepare reports, as required.

  • Assist the school in the development and implementation of an effective parent communication network to inform families of school programs, and school and community resources.

  • Assist parents with navigating and supporting their children in their educational development.

  • Conduct home visits to the physical address of the student/family.

  • Ensure student confidentiality

  • Perform other duties, as required

The Social Worker collaborates with the multidisciplinaryteam and provides input in the development of the IHP/IEP for studentsrequiring social work intervention and support in the school setting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Establishes a set of rules and procedures that areappropriate for therapeutic setting and are within the parameter of the fullinstructional program

  • Designs and develops appropriate individualized serviceplans that are based on the IEP and supports the curriculum using diagnosticinformation from a variety of assessments and assessment processes

  • Uses available and appropriate resources as a bridge to theinstructional program

  • Effectively transitions students from therapy to classroomand classroom to therapy

  • Plans in collaboration with the educational team for theprevention and intervention of inappropriate behaviors, while maintaining thedignity of the student

  • Engages student in providing positive feedback usingeffective reinforcement techniques

  • Interacts effectively with (a) students, (b)family members,(c)educational team members, and (d) professionals outside the organization

  • Knowledgeable about general development and the impact ofthe disability on the student and his/her family

  • Utilizes community, state and national resources wherenecessary to promote the safety and welfare of students

  • Collaborates with all assigned students and educationalsupport staff as well as any assigned student teachers, interns, and volunteersworking in the school for the welfare and safety of all students while in theclassroom, on school grounds, during before and after-school activities

  • Adheres to Amergis and District policies and procedures

Minimum Requirements:

  • Holds a Professional Educator License with School SocialWorker (SSW) endorsement as required by state, contract and/or facility

  • May be required to have MSW or LCSW per state, contract orfacility

  • Complies with all relevant professional standards ofpractice

  • Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency programwhen applicable

  • Current CPR if applicable

  • TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable

  • Current Health certificate (per contract or stateregulation)

  • Must meet all federal, state and local requirements

  • Successful completion of new hire training as applicable tojob site

  • Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAArequirements

  • Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to andfrom appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors,co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in theEnglish language is required

  • Computer proficiency required

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
