The Maintenance Mechanic’s primary responsibilities include performing scheduled preventive and corrective maintenance on fixed and rotating mechanical equipment, troubleshooting and repairing mechanical problems, completing miscellaneous facility maintenance activities, and supporting the Operations Manager in delivering a first-class maintenance. Facility infrastructure includes Gottwald mobile harbor crane, several conveyor systems, yellow equipment, pickup trucks, and other industrial equipment. This may include welding, cutting, and fabricating parts & pieces.

Here is what you will be doing:
Complete scheduled preventative and unscheduled corrective maintenance activities on fixed/mobile mechanical equipment, Troubleshoot mechanical problems as they arise and repair or replace as needed. Troubleshoot conveyor, rotating equipment, and mechanical problems within the facility equipment and repair or replace as needed, maintain mechanical belt splices and replacements, Perform tasks such as removal, installation, alignment, leveling, and coupling of rotating equipment, as well as miscellaneous facility maintenance activities. Utilize Computerized Maintenance Management System to organize/record maintenance work, warranty records and inventory
Stick, TIG, & MIG welding experience needed – as well as plasma & torch cutting
Candidate must be willing to adjust work hours to accommodate vessel unloading
Requirements of a successful Maintenance Mechanic:
2+ years of previous experience as a maintenance technician preferred
Verifiable mechanic experience in material handling operations. Electrical understanding a plus. Understand mechanical drawings, preventative maintenance practices, and sequence of operation a plus Must possess an understanding of typical mechanical and electrical equipment used in the movement of material by crane, conveyors, and yellow equipment
High School Diploma/GED
Ability to read, write and understand English, have basic math and computer skills and be able to follow written and/or verbal instruction
Here are some of the physical requirements for this role:
Must be able to work in adverse conditions (heat and cold); time is split between a shop and outdoor environment, be physically able to handle heavy parts and pieces of equipment, Safely Climb on and off the equipment
Physically demanding work will be a daily function of this position
This person should be able to frequently lift 100 lbs
Be able to adjust shifts based on ship scheduling. The operation works 24/7 when vessels are in
