The Engineering Manager will provide leadership to a diverse technical team of dedicated manufacturing engineers to support the Global Nuclear Fuel (GNF) team in our Fuel Manufacturing Operations. This manager will work collaboratively with our leadership team to design, implement, and execute continuous improvement strategies to ensure successful and continuous operations for our facility. Assist operations and maintenance in process improvements and daily operations troubleshooting

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical and managerial leadership for the FMO Engineering team.

  • Inspire, hire, coach and ensure the development of the team’s technical talent/depth.

  • Establish and maintain strong working relationship with other internal managers, business leaders, project managers and stakeholders.

  • Interface with external partners, customers, the NRC, or other applicable regulatory agencies as needed on technical issues.

  • Provide leadership supporting performance and program management of assigned work and ensure on-time fulfillment of engineering commitments in accordance with contract requirements, business procedures, industry standards and regulatory agency guidelines.

  • Provide the oversight and be responsible to plan, organize and manage the delivery of technical activities/tasks in support of engineering deliverables.

  • Drive the design & development & maintenance of required systems in accordance the program/project software requirements.

  • Provide guidance for use of systems specifications as required by other GEH technical disciplines and project design partners.

  • Provide guidance and manage external resources to ensure the quality of deliverables, enable flexibility and improved cost positions.

  • Support our initiatives, process improvement, simplification, and design to cost.

  • Support GNF quality requirements, including participation in design reviews, initiating, and responding to corrective actions.

  • Perform other relevant duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering discipline or relevant STEM discipline and a minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in engineering design and/or project leadership and/or operations leadership.

OR

  • Master’s Degree in an Engineering discipline or relevant STEM discipline and a minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in engineering design and/or project leadership and/or operations leadership.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • For Controlled Access Area: must be able to successfully pass a Nuclear Safety Training Test; follow strict radiation protection, criticality, and industrial safety regulations; wear protective clothing to enter the area.

  • Relocation to or already located in Wilmington, NC to support on-site activities as needed.

  • This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to U.S. export-controlled technology. Proof of U.S. person status prior to employment is required.

  • Must be 18 years or older and have legal authorization to work in the United States.

Desired Characteristics :

  • BS or MS in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial or Chemical Engineering

  • Experience with software configuration/change management

  • Experience supporting 24/7 chemical/manufacturing processes

  • Ability to develop creative solutions for complex, challenging issues.

  • Ability to explain complex issues to a non-technical audience.

  • Positive track record of experience resolving technical issues.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Strong written communication skills.

  • Proven ability to influence others.

This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.
