Navy Federal Credit Union Manager, Reporting & Analytics (AML and OFAC, Transaction Monitoring Systems) in Winchester, Virginia

Overview

To plan, manage, and direct business intelligence, business strategy and data science functions for AML/BSA and OFAC. Manage and coordinate production and delivery of business intelligence in the form of dashboards and reports to senior leadership, operations branches, and support groups. Lead large-scale data and analytic projects to improve channel experiences and operational performance. Develop and maintain data and analytics roadmap for the department and investigate and leverage new technologies in data engineering, visualization, and analytics to improve the ability to transform data into actionable insight. Serve as subject matter expert regarding business functions, systems, policies and/or procedures. Manage daily activities of professional employees and/or supervisors. Support executive management in developing and executing strategic plans.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and lead business intelligence development, including requirements gathering, design, production implementation and maintenance

  • Creates data reporting and analytics for BSA/AML and OFAC

  • Develop and executes strategy and/or policies to achieve key business objectives

  • Oversee project management of multiple reporting, dashboard development, ad-hoc analysis and data initiatives

  • Optimize business operations' performance by analyzing current and forecasting future performance to support strategic initiatives

  • Evaluate/develop/implement analytical techniques and best practices to gain a competitive advantage

  • Communicate changes of reporting framework and life cycle processes to business community

  • Maintain understanding of business direction, environment and strategies and work closely with stakeholders to ensure analytic output addresses business needs

  • Oversee team to mine large datasets for new sources of information to better understand drivers of member experience and operational performance

  • Partner with internal business partners and external vendors to ensure successful data integration/engineering, and data warehousing

  • Generate and clarify decisions, recommendations and/or solutions focused on optimizing business efficiencies via data collection, manipulation and analysis

  • Ensure that data processing standards, guidelines, procedures, controls and best practices are followed across the department

  • Develop dashboards leveraging best practices in data visualization and champion the use across the department

  • Lead the development of reports, studies, and solutions to improve channel experiences, manage operational performance, and inform strategic direction

  • Lead the development and maintenance of databases to ensure operational efficiency and reduce operational risk

  • Identify and resolve operational and performance gaps and obstacles; develop and implement changes and improvements

  • Maintain thorough knowledge of and ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws, rules, regulations and NFCU policies and procedures

  • Participate in organization-wide project teams; monitor projects assigned to the department and ensure milestones are completed on schedule

  • Collaborate with ISD and Strategy Management to design and build the technology infrastructure necessary to achieve data-driven analytic solutions

  • Develop and implement new/updated policies, procedures, goals and priorities as necessitated by demands, changing conditions, and/or management request

  • Develop and maintain team-specific components of the Division Annual Financial Plan (AFP)

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Extensive, progressively responsible experience leading and managing an analytics operation, preferably in a large service delivery operation

  • Expert knowledge of data querying, reporting, forecasting, analysis, and operations research, including statistical Methods and modeling

  • Extensive experience in data warehouse development lifecycle methodologies including dimensional modeling techniques, preferably with the Microsoft SQL Server Business Intelligence Stack

  • Expert knowledge of industry procedures, policies, and practices

  • In-depth knowledge applying a broad range of analytical tools to trends and issues, and data mining and BI (business intelligence) technologies

  • Expert knowledge of automated systems in managing a call /contact center

  • Working knowledge of banking/financial industry trends, products, and services

  • Working knowledge in the use of statistical modeling software (e.g. SAS or SPSS)

  • Expert organizational, planning and time management skills

  • Extensive experience developing business or technology

  • Extensive experience demonstrating thought-leadership, initiative-taking, decision-making and creativity solving business problems

  • Extensive experience managing multiple priorities independently and/or in a team environment to achieve goals

  • Significant experience in working with all levels of staff, management, stakeholders, vendors

  • Significant experience supervising and leading professional employees

  • Working knowledge of Navy Federal Systems Development Life Cycle

  • Expert skill in results-oriented leadership in a challenging environment

  • Expert skill in project management to include establishing and leading project teams; managing timelines/deadlines/resources; ensuring successful project implementation

  • Advanced skill presenting findings, conclusions, alternatives, and information clearly and concisely

  • Expert skill to influence, negotiate and persuade to reach agreeable exchange and positive outcomes

  • Expert verbal and written communication skills

  • Expert database, word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field, or the equivalent combination of training, education, and experience

  • Significant experience in AML and OFAC data and analytics

Desired Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of Navy Federal policies, procedures, products, and services

  • Experience in leading and managing in diverse and complex operational environments

  • Master's degree in a Management Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field, or the equivalent combination of training, education, and experience

  • Transaction Monitoring Systems experience

  • Significant experience in AML and OFAC systems
