job summary:

A Senior Design Engineer is needed for a major U.S. defense contractor and industrial corporation with core manufacturing concentrations in weapons and military and commercial electronics in the Windsor Locks, CT area. The Senior Design Engineer will oversee propeller system inspections, support component design, and collaborate globally on technical issues and testing.

work hours: 8am to 4pm

responsibilities:

  • Support military and commercial propeller platforms.

  • Provide design support across all design phases: concept, optimization, preliminary, detailed design, development, validation, certification, manufacturing, and operational service.

  • Design mechanical components and assemblies with a focus on manufacturability, reliability, and maintainability.

  • Support manufacturing by addressing non-conformances and troubleshooting assembly/testing issues.

  • Generate reports based on analysis and test activities.

  • Interact with internal and external customers, vendors, and suppliers.

  • Participate in internal and external product design engineering teams and reviews.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree with 5 years of relevant experience, or

  • An advanced degree with a minimum of 3 years of experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Aerospace experience.

  • Project engineering experience .

  • Experience providing manufacturing support and/or in-service engineering support for maintenance activities.

  • Experience with Siemens NX/Unigraphics or similar CAD software.

  • Experience with designing mechanical assemblies with standard parts (seals, screws, bearings, plugs and pins).

  • Familiarity with ASME Y14.5 (GD&T dimensioning and tolerancing).

  • Experience in the use of typical Microsoft Office programs.
