Butler America Sr. Design Engineer in Windsor Locks, Connecticut

Design Engineer Location: Windsor Locks, CT Job ID: #69809 Pay Range: $42-48 ph (W@) Duration: 12 mos Job Responsibilities The Propeller Systems Engineering group is seeking a motivated customer focused and dedicated Sr. Design Engineer to support new and legacy propeller products. Initial assignment will be to lead the establishment of a propeller system major inspection interval and required activities. This includes collaboration with other propeller functional groups to identify frequent maintenance degraders as well oversee analysis activities (damage tolerance, component tests, etc.). Other typical design activities include supporting the development and continued operation of Propeller components (actuators, hubs, transfer tube and control components). The candidate should have skills and experience in the following areas: design, engineering product change justification, testing and in service engineering support. Primary Responsibilities: • Supporting military and commercial propeller platforms. • Design support across all phases of the design cycle, concept & optimization, preliminary through detailed design, development, validation, certification, manufacturing, and operational service. • Design mechanical components and assemblies with an emphasis on manufacturability, reliability, and maintainability. • Support manufacturing with non-conformances and troubleshooting assembly/testing issues. • Generate reports for engineering work performed based on analysis and test activities. • Interact with internal customers, external customers, vendors and suppliers. • Participate in internal and external product design engineering teams and reviews. • Occasional domestic and international travel required to support maintainers, suppliers, customers, and aircraft operators • Perform other duties as required. Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of prior relevant experience OR Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience • Aerospace experience • Project engineering experience • Experience providing manufacturing support and/or in-service engineering support for maintenance activities • Experience with Siemens NX/Unigraphics or similar CAD software • Experience with designing mechanical assemblies with standard parts (seals, screws, bearings, plugs and pins) • Familiarity with ASME Y14.5 (GD&T dimensioning and tolerancing) • Experience in the use of typical Microsoft Office programs • Strong oral and written communication skills • Familiarity or competency with Finite Element Analysis • Ability to present to customers, operators, and at various levels of leadership internally & externally Benefits provided: 401K, medical, dental, and vision, sick time as applicable to state law Butler America Aerospace, LLC. is proud to provide an equal opportunity workplace and be an affirmative action employer.
