Millerbernd Manufacturing Co. Engineering Intern - Summer 2025 in Winsted, Minnesota

NOW HIRING: Millerbernd Manufacturing is hiring Manufacturing Engineering Interns, supporting our Transportation & Infrastructure (Pole) Business Unit and our Ring & Cylinder (R&C) Business Unit, to join our team for the Summer of 2025! As a Manufacturing Engineering Intern, you will work and assist the Manufacturing Engineers teams on work projects as needed and directed. This role is an onsite opportunity based in Winsted, MN.

As a Manufacturing Engineer Intern, you will:

  • Perform actual time studies by timing and/or taking videos of the work being performed on the shop floor and tabulate results into meaningful data to improve processes and line operations

  • Draw and design new and existing layouts using Solidworks to aid in plant expansion and equipment placement

  • Partner with the engineering team and production employees to develop designs for jigs, fixtures and workstations to aid in the manufacturing process

  • Participate in project management tools and techniques to manage projects from start to finish which may include activities such as establishing project timelines, financial analysis, procurement of materials, Gantt charts and establishing vendor contacts

  • Create, maintain, and update manufacturing documentation including part routings, work instructions, standard process times, and standard work

  • Support manufacturing engineers in day to day tasks and problem resolution

  • Support Continuous Improvement projects

    Role Qualifications as a Manufacturing Engineer Intern:

  • Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering and Industrial Technology major - Ideally in the 3rd year or beyond of your major

  • Completion of the following courses desired: Time & Motion Study, Computer Aided Design, Mfg. Materials and Processes, Statistical Analysis, Production and Operations Analysis, Facilities Layout/Mfg. Cost Analysis or related courses

  • Fundamental understanding of Lean and Six Sigma desired

  • Strong understanding of engineering concepts and ability to apply to real world problems

  • Exposure to paint, welding, fabrication, and machine shop process or system desired

  • Exposure to DFA/DFM desired

  • Experience with industry standard CAD systems for design and documentation

  • Ability to read and interpret manufacturing blue prints

  • Experience using standard test and measurement equipment

  • Ability to handle simultaneous and sometime challenging tasks

  • Strong PC skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.

  • Willingness to work in hands on production environment

  • Ability to listen to others, analyze inputs, and appropriately act on information provided

  • Ability to collect and document process data (time studies, quality data, etc.)

  • Technical problem solving in a production environment.
