MAJOR FUNCTION
Primary Function:
Responsible for the installation of personal computer hardware including standalone units, and those on local area networks, and wide area networks. Assists staff with PC/Laptop setups, imaging, and installations.
Secondary Function:
Make all necessary arrangements for equipment installation upon completion of imaging. Transfer all user data and personal settings from old computer to new computer. Verify that user is satisfied with setup and answer any questions the user may have. Also responsible for the inventory and removal of old computers and related peripherals and transferring them to the Procurement Warehouse for storage.
ILLUSTRATIVE DUTIES
Primary Duties Hardware Technique
- Utilizing in-house systems, Image desktop and laptop computers.
- Transfer all user data from old PC to new.
- Transport and install personal computers on location on user desks.
- Ensure that all peripherals are reconnected and operational.
- Ensure KBOX computer inventory is updated as needed.
- Remove old equipment and transfer to warehouse.
- Complete work ticket with details for each installation as required.
- Enter data in spreadsheets to keep track of installation progress.
- Inform Desktop Supervisor of status daily.
- Performs related duties as required.
KNOWLEDGE ABILITIES AND SKILLS
- Knowledge of standard personal computer hardware and related equipment used within the county.
- Knowledge of a wide variety of personal computer hardware.
- Ability to install various software packages on personal computers.
- Ability to perform preventive maintenance and troubleshoot repairs on personal computer systems.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Ability to communicate effectively with end-users, IT staff, and management
- Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with other employees and officials.
- Ability to use independent judgment and make analytical recommendations.
- Must be able to work independently and solve problems effectively,
- Must have the ability to see, write, and perform data entry keying efforts.
- Ability to concentrate on detail and sequential work tasks.
- Ability to speak in a manner that can be understood.
- Ability to sit for long periods.
- Ability to bend, stoop, sit, and stand.
- Ability to perform tasks that require eye and hand coordination. Ability to work as part of a team.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Graduate from an accredited high school or possess an acceptable equivalency diploma.
Minimum of two years' experience end-user support in a Windows environment that includes troubleshooting and repair of personal computers.
Must possess knowledge of standard personal computer hardware and software including the ability to det
