ROOSEVELT COUNTY - WOLF POINT Head Cook in WOLF POINT, Montana

Head Cook Roosevelt County Senior Center in Wolf Point Permanent Part-Time 20 hrs/week $17.32/hr + (DOE); Grade 1 Range 1 Roosevelt County Aging Program Coordinator EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION REQUIRED High school diploma or equivalent or 2 years work experience in the work field Ability to cook a home cooked meal for a large group A basic knowledge of safe food handling practices Ability to obtain ServSafe certification (training & testing will be provided) SUMMARY The Head Cook will be responsible for the planning, prepping, preparing, serving, and cleaning up of the congregate meals for senior citizens. This includes obtaining groceries as well as keeping the pantry, fridges, freezer, and kitchen stocked, cleaned, organized, and inventoried. They also will be responsible for preparing monthly menus and grocery lists to be submitted to the Roosevelt County Aging Office by the dates requested. They will oversee & direct the duties of the assistant cook. This position will work out of the Wolf Point Senior Center located in Wolf Point. The job is currently scheduled for 20 hours per week with meal days currently on Tuesdays & Thursdays and prep days on Mondays & Wednesdays. The position may require flexibility to accommodate training. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Self-Check for any symptoms of illness (fever, cough, etc.) Plan, prep, and cook the meal (with assistance from assistant cook) Keep kitchen, fridges, freezer, & pantries stocked, organized, and inventoried Keep record of fridge & freezer temperatures Create menus and submit to Aging office by the 11th of every month Create grocery list for US Food & Sysco orders and submit to Aging office by the 3rd Friday of every month Grocery shop Duties w/ assistance from Assistant Cook Sanitize tables & chairs before meals Wash dishes & put them away (dishes must be sanitized after rinsing unless run through the dishwasher and dishes may NOT be dried with a dish towel) Keep counters, cupboards, sinks, ovens, inside & outside of fridges & freezer clean Wipe down tables & chairs after meals Empty garbage and keep garbage can(s) clean Sweep & mop kitchen floor as needed OTHER DUTIES MAY BE ASSIGNED IN GENERAL: ? Will work under the general guidance and direction of the Program Coordinator ? Will be required to attend training sessions and meetings pertaining to position ? Will follow Roosevelt County?s work and safety policies ? Will follow nutrition program guidelines set by the Department of Public Health & Human Services ? Will follow food safety practices ? Must keep daily time record of worked performed, and number of hours worked and provide this information to the County Aging Program Coordinator by noon of the 23rd of each month ? Will submit leave slips to County Aging Program Coordinator when using vacation or sick leave (after probation period is completed) SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS Must have acceptable mode of transportation A current valid Montana driver?s license Proof of Liability Insurance Must be able to be contacted by telephone PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES/QUALIFICATIONS Ability to communicate effectively with others in a mature, friendly & patient manner Ability & desire to work with Senior Citizens & their families Ability to shift back and forth between two or more activities Ability to accept and utilize supervision Ability to recognize when something is wrong or is unsafe and the ability to come up with a potential solution Ability to work independently Ability to see tasks outside of regular duties that need to be done and be self-motivated to do them Neat and clean appearance No drug use PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands of this job regularly require an employee to stand, walk, talk, and hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands and fingers, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, bend, kneel, crouch or crawl. An employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, or balanc . The employee must occasionally lift up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Hearing abilities include the ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and/or other sound. WORK ENVIRONMENT The employee will be exposed to extreme temperatures in both food and equipment. The employee may be exposed to moving mechanical industrial kitchen equipment. The employee may be exposed to airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals.
