Blue Origin LLC Principal RF Front End Engineer - Wireless Systems - Lunar Permanence in Woodmont Beach, Washington

To further Blue Origin's mission of having millions of people living and working in space, we are building the sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the Lunar Surface. As part of a hardworking team of diverse specialists, technicians, and engineers, you will be instrumental in developing advanced radio and antenna systems that support our lunar permanence business unit. Your expertise and leadership will drive the design, development, and deployment of state-of-the-art RF front end solutions critical to our mission success. This is a highly collaborative and technical role where your expertise will guide critical projects and contribute significantly to our mission of lunar exploration and habitation. NOTE: This role will be located out of the greater San Francisco Bay Area (CA). We are working on a physical address now but all applicants must be either local or willing to relocate for this opportunity. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Lead the design and development of RF front end systems, including antennas, filters, LNAs, PAs, and mixers, for lunar communication applications. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including systems engineering, mission planning, and hardware development to ensure seamless integration of RF systems. Work with system architects, RF engineers, antenna engineers, modem/DSP, and ASIC engineers to partition functions between hardware and software domains Conduct detailed analysis, simulation, and optimization of RF circuit and system performance to meet stringent requirements for lunar environment conditions. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and contribute to building a high-performance RF engineering team. Perform RF testing, validation, and troubleshooting to ensure reliability and performance of the RF systems in both lab and field environments. Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and advancements in RF engineering to continually enhance our design practices and methodologies. Prepare and present detailed technical reports, design reviews, and project status updates to stakeholders and leadership. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, telecommunications, or related discipline. Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in RF front end design and development, with a strong focus on antennas and radio applications. Experience in MATLAB, Python, C++ or other tools for modeling and analyzing RF systems Proven experience in RF circuit design, simulation tools (such as ADS, HFSS, or CST), and hands-on testing with RF test equipment (such as network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, and signal generators). Strong understanding of RF propagation and performance challenges in the lunar environment. Demonstrated ability to lead complex RF design projects, from concept through to production. Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to understand and address multidisciplinary challenges. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with a track record of successful collaboration with interdisciplinary teams. Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum. Preferred Qualifications: Advanced degree (Master's or Ph.D.) preferred.
