Position Summary

The Senior Manager of Software Development & Engineering application dev is responsible for driving the development and continued adoption of our product MDM platform, STIBO.

STIBO is a vendor managed platform that aims to a single source of Products, (suppliers, merchants, and other B2B partners) capabilities to serve multiple Retail technology domains and ensure data consistency and quality across the ecosystem.

You will work closely with other architects, product owners, and engineers to continue to build out and drive adoption of STIBO, along with improving aspects of our software delivery process surrounding it. You will ensure compliance to our Software security policies, scalability and observability of the STIBO interfaces.

You will also provide leadership updates and help make technology decisions impacting Retail IT Strategy.

This is a new position, reporting to the Lead Director, Application Dev of Merchandising Technology. Open to candidates working in hybrid model from our Corporate office location in RI or can work remote anywhere in the US

In this role:

  • You will act as an engineering manager leading a cross functional engineering team that is located onshore and offshore.

  • You will leverage your significant engineering and system design experience to partner with other retail delivery teams and design new capabilities and integration patterns that expose data from STIBO and is seamlessly integrated into multiple domains across the retail business segment.

  • You will have accountability and oversight in driving solutions from idea to implementation, by providing engineering leadership and oversight to other solution engineers who are intimately familiar with the application architecture within this specific domain.

  • This includes having strong ability to look around the corner at emerging technologies and advise the team around the strategic technical vision for the platform within the context of CVS.

  • You’ll play a key role in application design reviews, identify gaps, and recommend design changes.

  • You will work to drive modernization opportunities for the advancement of Retail technology while keeping in mind the complexities of our IT landscape.

  • You’ll also maintain excellent architectural standards and patterns as new capabilities are delivered within the platform.

  • Lastly, you will play a key role in furthering the modernization journey for Retail Technology team, in alignment with the Enterprise strategy.

Accountabilities include

  • Work with engineers, architects, scrum masters, and product owners in planning, prioritizing, and performing assigned tasks within deadlines

  • Working with other technical leads to align on standards and best practices for architecture, engineering, and automation

  • Create product roadmaps, develop patterns, and write POCs which will advance the team towards our delivery goals

  • Make informed technical decisions quickly and take end-to-end ownership of application architecture

  • Lead and participate in design sessions, making opinionated suggestions on how to continuously improve our standards and delivery capabilities

  • Be responsible for building a strong culture of improvement and automation within the team

  • Be an advocate for and implementer of security best practices

    Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of professional IT experience

  • 3+ years of experience as an engineering manager, lead software engineer, or architect at a large organization designing solution architectures

  • 2+ years of experience building APIs, services, or applications with any of following: Java, Node.js, Python

  • 2+ years of experience in cloud application design and architecture for one or more public cloud providers to deliver large-scale distributed solutions.

    Preferred Qualifications

  • Azure cloud experience preferred

  • Experience in STIBO is preferred, but not required

  • The ability to multi-task and manage to aggressive deliverable dates

  • Mentor other software engineers at varying levels to expand their capabilities for growth within the organization

  • SME level technical skills in the following areas: application and integration architecture, security and automation along with a working knowledge of IT operations

  • SME level understanding of APIs & microservices-based architecture

  • SME level understanding of both SQL and NoSQL database technologies

  • Demonstrable hands-on experience delivery quality software at scale

  • Experience building cloud native platforms in a green field environment or modernizing brown field platforms in an enterprise setting

  • Thought leadership & excellent communication skills

  • Deep collaboration skills and ability to work as a team player seeking alignment and able to influence outcomes

Education

Bachelor degree from accredited university or equivalent work experience(HS diploma + 4 years relevant experience)

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$118,450.00 - $267,800.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
