Air Force Materiel Command ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES ASSISTANT (O/A) in Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio

The primary purpose of this position is to serve as division-level principal office assistant performing various clerical & administrative duties in support of the organization. Responsibilities Uses advanced functions to perform office automation support using multiple automated programs & software that requires complex formats such as correspondence, databases, spreadsheets, reports & graphics. Prepares/reviews/finalizes a wide variety of recurring & nonrecurring correspondence, reports, & documents, prepared by self or others. Screens incoming communications to identify what needs to be brought to the attention of the supervisor, referred to appropriate staff, rerouted to other offices, or handled personally. Answers nontechnical requests for information such as status of reports, updating trackers & suspense dates, answers telephone calls, mail pick-up/delivery, maintains supervisor's calendar, coordinates/schedules meetings & conferences, & coordinates w/ supervisor IAW supervisor's policies/priorities. Serves as the liaison between management, subordinate units, & counterparts at various levels on administrative, clerical, & procedural requirements & instructions IAW existing guidelines. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions. Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement. In addition to meeting experience or education requirements, applicants for these positions must show possession of the following skill: 40 words per minute typing speed. Applicants may meet these requirements by passing the appropriate performance test, presenting a certificate of proficiency from a school or other organization authorized to issue such certificates by the Office of Personnel Management local office, or by self-certifying their proficiency. Performance test results and certifications of proficiency are acceptable for 3 years. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have or will have within 120 days of the closing of this announcement, at least one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-DU-01, equivalent to the next lower grade GS-4 or equivalent in other pay system. Specialized experience is experience using office automation software to prepare correspondence such as reports, documents, presentations, and or spreadsheets, maintaining supervisor's calendar, scheduling meetings and/or conferences, and maintaining files/records to support administrative support programs. OR EDUCATION:4 years above high school education obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours is creditable towards meeting the specialized experience requirement. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Problem Solving Communication Business Management Teamwork and Leadership PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
