The Opportunity:

CACI is seeking a Simulators Common Architecture, Requirements, and Standards (SCARS) Engineer to support the USAF's Simulators Division in the development and fielding of a modeling and simulation common architecture.

AFAMS is the premier agency responsible for implementation, integration, and development of Modeling and Simulation (M&S) and training and analysis standards that support the US Air Force (USAF), Department of Defense (DoD), and mission partners requiring these capabilities to support the Warfighter in full-spectrum operations. In the current resource constrained environment, demand for M&S rises with the continuously evolving need for operational readiness and mission preparedness across the USAF, DoD, and with coalition partners. AFAMS focuses on providing innovative M&S services as the key to meeting this demand

Responsibilities:

  • Identify/recommend a migration path for simulator functionality from a decentralized to a centralized state that accommodates all common functionality assuming a stateless simulator.

  • Assess current cloud technologies and perform centralized cloud datacenter (CCD) analyses. Define and recommend a CCD hardware architecture infrastructure that is based on simulator unique requirements (e.g., security considerations, storage of large, correlated data sets). The CCD architecture will: (1) be scalable and be able to support multiple security domain operations, (2) include an enterprise repository for data and software for the SCARS program.

  • Assess current local cloud datacenter (LCD) technologies and operational cybersecurity support. Define a recommended hardware architecture infrastructure based on the local real/near-real time simulator unique requirements, (e.g., security considerations, storage of large, correlated data sets). The LCD architecture will be scalable and be able to support multiple security domain operations.

  • Work with the Government and simulator vendors as they respond to contractual direction to deliver Department of Defense Architectural Framework (DoDAF) views. Use those responses to analyze, model, characterize, and document current training systems addressing design approach, networks and interfaces, proprietary applications, and all other information that will support adaptation to a standard digitally modeled architecture. This directive includes gathering the architectural data to the sub-system level of all current platforms to develop and expand the system model of the simulator community, the interfacing networks, and all other such data as necessary to construct a complete and accurate as-is WNS training system environment, using model-based system engineering (MBSE) practices.

  • Provide Market Research assessments, industry analysis including research trends in order to inform the government team, the acquisition strategies, and potential standards and technologies to be incorporated into simulators.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Active Secret security clearance.

  • MS/MA degree and 10+ years of relevant experience; if no MA/MS additional work experience may be substituted in leu of degree (Bachelor's Degree plus additional 8 years work experience may be substituted for a Master's Degree; if no degree whatsoever 12 additional years work experience may be substituted for a Master's Degree, for total of 22 years work experience)

Desired:

  • Extensive experience with AF Modeling and Simulation.
