Wyandotte, MI - Resins Plant

Where the chemistry happens…

The employee is responsible for quality assurance testing of raw materials, intermediates, and finished product streams for the Wyandotte Resin and Dispersion Plant (WYDR). This is done by conducting analytical testing on raw materials, resins, resin cuts, and emulsions in support of a 24/7 ISO 9001:2015 manufacturing operation. The employee is also responsible to seek opportunities to continuously improve operational efficiency and to identify and eliminate waste. Works with minimal direct supervision currently working straight 8-hour midnight shift (11pm-7am) eventually moving to a shift rotating 12-hour schedule. The 12-hour rotating shift runs from 6:00 to 6:00. Shifts rotate from day to night over a 4-week cycle, known as the “J-Swing.”

Qualifications

  • 2-year Associates degree in Chemistry or 2-year Technical degree in Analytical Testing in Chemistry or related field AND 3 years of laboratory experience OR HS diploma/GED AND 4 years of laboratory experience in a chemical environment.

  • Ability to operate various controlled instruments, in addition to a basic proficiency with Microsoft Office Products; Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel.

  • Well-developed analytical methodology and an insight into problem solving.

  • Knowledge of SPC.

  • Detail oriented with the ability to record (via notebook or computer) and report pertinent data.

  • Must be wiling and able lift to a maximum of 49 lbs.

  • Must be able to follow both written and verbal instructions.

  • Must be able to follow all applicable safety procedures including correct personal protective equipment.

  • Must have good interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team environment and interact with management and employees within the organization.

  • Ability to work 8 hour nightshift (11pm-7am) plus overtime with future rotating 12 hour shifts 6:00 - 6:00 - J swing schedule

  • Experience managing the development and document control aspects of quality systems procedures and work instructions
