Scope

Under general direction from the Production Supervisor, the Process Leader is accountable for key production metrics in their assigned manufacturing department(s) as related to Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory, Costs and People (SQDIC&P). These goals will be accomplished through appropriate coordination and schedule execution of raw materials, staffing, equipment, productivity and process flow.

Essential Functions

  • Follow all Company EHS (Environmental, Health and Safety) policies, rules and procedures at all times; maintain a strong safety mindset and set the example for safety compliance on the production floor. Always wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) for work being performed, active identification of safety hazards and issues in conjunction with the Fix-It Ticket program and ensure department compliance with all PPE and EHS requirements.

  • Lead active participation in all EHS and OpEx (Operational Excellence) initiatives including but not limited to 6S activities, Op Ex projects, GEMBA, ergonomic job rotation and work assignment requirements.

  • Review, follow and lead department in compliance to all SOP’s (Standard Operating Procedures), Work Instructions, processes and procedures to meet or exceed all quality and regulatory requirements for internal and external compliance with agencies such as FDA, OSHA, FM Global, ISO, BSI, etc.

  • In support of Operations, Engineering, Quality and other management staff as needed, lead area continuous improvement efforts in design, development and implementation of process improvements to increase / improve in core metrics such as Recordable Injury Rate, reduction of quality issues/rework/NC’s (non-conformances) and PPLH (Parts Per Labor Hour) / financial production targets.

  • Ensure accurate supply of raw materials and WIP (Work In Progress) to achieve optimum process flow towards finished goods.

  • Check area for accurate completion to document control standards, inventory and production reporting requirements following Company and Quality guidelines.

  • Monitor and maintain a clean work environment aligned with Company standards.

  • Professional communication in a team environment and/or independently as needed to help the team achieve successful production, quality and employee engagement goals.

  • Promptly raise any potential safety, quality, employee or production issues immediately to appropriate supervisory and management parties, and work with support functions to quickly resolve issues.

  • Ability to cross train and rotate between various areas within the department throughout the shift.

  • Assist with training new full time and/or temporary employees as needed in compliance with all safety, quality and production policies, rules and procedures. In coordination with the Production Supervisor and Quality personnel, assist in meeting all active and timely compliance with all LMS (Learning Management System) requirements, help drive an agile and collaborative workforce by identifying cross training opportunities within area of responsibility in pursuit of employee development goals.

  • Works with Master Scheduler in department (if applicable) on execution of the manufacturing schedule and day to day operations of the department. This could include staging production orders, working with warehouse to ensure accuracy of orders, and other duties as needed.

  • All other duties as assigned.

Typical Background

Education:

  • High school diploma or GED required.

Years and Type of Experience:

  • One to three years of previous experience in manufacturing / assembly preferred.

  • SME (Subject Matter Expert) for assigned area(s) of responsibility.

Key Required Skills, Knowledge and Capabilities:

  • Previous manufacturing experience in a regulated industry preferred but not required.

  • Solid understanding of inventory control methods and practices.

  • Basic computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), e-mail and Internet a plus.

  • Strong communication skills – written and verbal.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to include customer-focused orientation with both internal and external customers.

  • Good organizational, prioritization and analytical skills.

  • Ability to work independently as well as within a team.

  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic computations.

  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
