Summary The Sanitary Tube and Pipe Welder is responsible for traveling to customer sites to install sanitary piping and tube systems, mainly for the Food & Beverage and Pharmaceutical industries. This position requires someone with extensive sanitary process piping experience. A successful candidate must have the ability travel for extended periods of time, work weekends, and overtime as necessary. Required Skills/ Abilities: Performs all work in a timely manner as designated by the Pipe Supervisor/Project Manager Accurately completes projects, paperwork, and timesheets, submitting items as required Safely uses all equipment, such as welding guns, tools, overhead cranes, forklifts, etc. Effectively communicates with the Pipe Supervisor/Project Manager, Customers, and other team members verbally, through text, or email Works with limited supervision and in a clean and organized manner Maintains professional conduct at all times, particularly when at customer sites Duties/ Responsibilities Repair, maintain, and install sanitary piping and tubing systems, for the Food & Beverage and Pharmaceutical industries Perform installations or replacements of piping systems, and related equipment Fabricate tanks and structural supports, and weld high pressure lines and pressure vessels Read and interpret construction documents and shop drawings Anticipate job requirements and order material. Increase familiarity of area equipment and piping systems of customer facilities Notify customers and supervisors of status of work and any complications that impact the schedule Work individually or on a team to execute repairs or installations Perform all work in accordance with safety rules and procedures, such as OSHA, federal, state, and local regulations Perform other duties and assume various responsibilities as determined by the Pipe Supervisor/Project Manager Physical Demands Must be able to complete the essential functions of this position: stand, walk, climb, crouch, stoop, kneel, and bend Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds at a time on a regular basis Operating tools, performing mechanical or skilled trade tasks Ability to weld at heights and tight spaces Qualifications High School degree preferred Current, valid driver's license with a safe driving history Minimum of 3 years experience of sanitary process piping Ability to pass a 6G Stainless tube test, as well as a 6G Stainless and Carbon Pipe weld test. TIG weld process is preferred. Ability to read and weld from blueprints with a basic understanding of mathematics as related to welding assignments Excellent ability to read and listen to assignments given in a variety of forms Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills Deadline and detail-oriented Rigging experience is a plusAbility to travel frequently with occasional overnight travel
