Title: Quality Technician I (Defect Analysis)

Reports to: DA Manager

Location: Holland, MI

Summary

As a QA Technician I (Defect Analysis), you will work in a lab setting using analytical equipment and computerized systems to evaluate and test samples throughout the lithium-ion battery incoming process. You are responsible for analyzing lithium-ion batteries (small, medium/large Cell, ESS) and BMS (Battery Management System) related failure parts found at accident sites, and internal and external failure samples. Ultimately, you will organize the analysis results and identify the root cause.

Responsibilities:

  • Verify daily, weekly, and monthly calibrations for all equipment are complete and properly documented

  • Cell/Module/Pack tear-down analysis and reporting

  • Report investigation/test/containment results in a clear, concise, and timely manner to the appropriate Supervisor

  • Training QA Inspectors on testing equipment and material

  • Paying close attention to detail

  • Ability to work well with individuals and teams across the company to ensure the group meets or exceeds expectations

  • Verify correct data to insure a quality product

  • Being self-directed to work individually on tasks while communicating with your team

  • Check equipment regularly to ensure normal operating activity

  • Analyse data from measuring devices

  • Complete daily documentation and audits, as required by the position

  • Ensure work is completed in a safe manner & maintain a safe working environment

  • Utilize a variety of required PPE to ensure your safety within the plant, during the incoming process. Our positions require at least some and up to all of the following: Nitrile gloves, lab coat, safety glasses, P95 Particulate mask, disposable sleeves, goggles, face shield, Cryogen apron and gloves, and Ansell gloves, etc

  • Ability to wear a full respirator

  • Adhere to general, and position-specific, dress code requirements

  • Participate in, and successfully complete, any and all training requirements

  • Regular and reliable on-site attendance is required

  • Maintain cleanliness at work-site in accordance with 5S3R Standards:

  • Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain

  • Right Location, Right Quantity, Right Container

  • Follow LGESMI existing cleaning SOP’s during downtime (e.g. line stop, waiting time, etc.), which includes cleaning your designated machine and/or surrounding work area

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required

  • Vocational Certificate or Associates Degree preferred or equivalent, relevant experience

Experience:

  • 1 to 3+ years of related experience

  • Preventative maintenance experience in a climate-controlled lab and/or quality setting

Skills

  • Strong communication skills

  • MS Office Suite

  • Willing to participate in training, especially technical and/or problem-solving related

  • Basic math skills are required

  • Ability to read and interpret graphs and measurements is a must

  • Ability to wear a full respirator as well as all PPE listed above
