BASIC PURPOSE
The purpose of this position is to perform daily janitorial services and provide general maintenance at assigned facilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain cleanliness of corps buildings including but not limited to offices, restrooms, classrooms, chapel, kitchen and food pantry
Maintain cleanliness and maintenance of the vehicle fleet
Maintain cleanliness of parking lot, lawns and walkways
Conduct weekly lawn service at assigned facilities
Conduct minor facility and equipment repairs
Maintain inventory of janitorial supplies and maintenance equipment
Setup and prepare rooms for program usage
Transport food donations and equipment/supplies as assigned
Assist with monthly and quarterly safety checks
Assist with seasonal projects including but not limited to food drives, toy drives, Red Kettles
Other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS
Ability to speak and write the English language at a high and professional level
Minimum one (1) year of building maintenance and/or janitorial service preferred
High degree of confidentiality
Able to endorse and promote The Salvation Army’s mission
Computer literate, in Windows environment (Microsoft Office), Word, Excel and Outlook preferred
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Excellent and professional telephone etiquette and presence
Excellent organizational skills
Strong ability to utilize a high level of time management and handling multiple tasks
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
High school diploma
Must possess ServSafe Food Handler certification
Must possess a valid California Class C Driver License, and ability to drive a Salvation Army vehicle
Must be 21 years or older
Authorize The Salvation Army to add name to the CA DMV Pull Notice Program
Complete The Salvation Army vehicle course training
Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background check to include a DOJ Livescan Fingerprint check.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis
Ability to grasp, push, and/or pull objects
Ability to reach overhead
Ability to operate telephone
Ability to lift up to 50-70 lbs.
Ability to operate a computer
Ability to process written, visual, and/or verbal information
Ability to operate basic office equipment and tools PC, Fax Machine, Telephone, Calculator, Copier, Printer.
