Position Summary

The Part-Time Payroll & Benefit Specialist will be responsible for processing payroll, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal and state regulations, managing timekeeping records, supporting attendance programs, and providing support to the HR Department. This role requires excellent attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.

The ideal candidate for this position should either possess prior experience in Payroll or Benefits endeavors or be open to acquiring skills in the complementary area. In doing so, they will strengthen the organization's capacity to secure and nurture the right talent for sustained growth and success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process bi-weekly payroll for all employees utilizing the Ceridian Dayforce Payroll System, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and legal requirements.

  • Work closely with managers and supervisors to ensure that payroll data is received in a timely manner.

  • Maintain payroll records, including employee information, deductions, and timekeeping data.

  • Prepare and submit payroll and attendance reports to management.

  • Educate and train new managers or supervisors on policies and procedures with our payroll and timekeeping system to ensure they understand their role in the systems.

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll and attendance regulations.

  • Assist with year-end payroll tasks.

  • Collaborate with HR to ensure accurate employee records and benefits administration.

  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll and attendance matters in a timely and professional manner.

  • Assist with audits and provide necessary documentation as required.

  • Manage and maintain the timekeeping system to ensure accurate recording of employee hours.

  • Oversee the site-specific attendance program, including tracking and reporting attendance metrics.

  • Conduct weekly and month-end attendance audits to ensure compliance with our attendance policy and program.

  • Serve as the primary contact for employees regarding benefit inquiries and issues.

  • Provide guidance and support to employees during open enrollment periods.

  • Conduct benefits orientations and informational sessions for new hires and existing employees.

  • Bachelor's degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field; HR certifications (e.g., SHRM-CP or PHR) are a plus.

  • 3-5 years of previous experience in payroll and benefits administration.

  • Experience with payroll and benefits administration software, particularly Dayforce or Workday.

  • Proven experience as a Payroll Specialist, Benefits Specialist, or in a similar role.

  • Thorough knowledge of payroll and benefits regulations, processes, and procedures.

  • Knowledge of employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other voluntary benefits.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate resourcefulness in problem-solving.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).

  • Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy in payroll processing and benefits administration.

  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, highly organized.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Proven ability to work in a team environment.
